Well, I kinda forgot to make a "I am new" post, so concider this it :-)
I already posted 1 or 2 things, one being a small story for the adoption thing. (Come one adopt me, I'm really cute if you get to know me )
Well, erhmz what to say? It's a dream forum so I guess I should start with something like that. I've been dreaming since I was well, born I guess but I don't recall any of the dreams from back then. I have never had a lucid dream though I have experienced a lot in my dreams. (flying etc, those kind of things) I first heard about LD three years ago from an english friend in a gameforum. He had made a post and very entheusiastically pronounced he finally succeeded in having a lucid dream that night. I had no idea what he was talking about and entered "lucid dream" in google and that brought me to a website similar to this one only without a forum. (have no idea which one)
I've always wanted to try it but I'm very much a halfway person. I will say come let's do that and then I will stop somewhere in between. I'm the one that comes with the ideas but not the one who will excecute them.
Back to dreaming. I've had kind of a rough/hard childhood until the age of 12 when I went to high school. It would be safe to say that the only good things in my childhood were books and dreaming. I dream a lot, or perhaps everyone does that and I just recall a lot of them. I always remember the dreams I had during the night when I wake up though if I read everything here I come to the conclusion I only remember a few of all the dreams I have had in a night. When I was younger I strongly felt dreams had a larger meaning, that someway it would warn you of things in the future to come but I don't really know about that anymore.
What I do know is that numerous scientists have said only such a small part of the brain is known that I am confident there is more than "just" dreaming. (aka there's also lucid dreaming) I have kept a fragmentary dream journal from about when I was 8 or 11. I call it fragmented because I only wrote down the good dreams. (I had quite a lot of nightmares back then)
So what brings me here? Well I have an australian friend (Horrigan) whom I met about 3 years ago in the before mentioned game (which sadly is no more) and we're good friends. I mentioned the LDing to him and both of us got interested in it, so here we are. He came a few days earlier and has already found someone so in that view he is ahead of me but whenever we discuss dream recall I notice I have it much easier to recall what I dreamt about.
I think I really could have needed LDing back when I was younger but nowadays the world looks less hostile than it did back then so instead of an escape from reality it seems like a good way to me to experience some movies and or books I know.
I think I had an LD a few days ago when I walked through a burning forest and questioned my surroundings and found out that the leafs were burning but remained green rather than turning back and disappearing. I woke up then but I seriously doubt whether it was an actual LD or whether because I had been reading a lot about it lately it was my mind trying to tell me it was one. I guess I'm good prepared to try this LDing (only need a guide with me to take me through it step by step) not only because of the dream journal I have kept for all these years but also because of my frequent dreaming I have already experienced a lot of the things described here. (false awakenings for example occured often to me in my nightmares as a child, I would go through one nightmare and wake up, glad to be back in my bed by then, only to experience another nightmare right after it)
Well, just 2 more cents and then I will stop. I read about someone wondering whether it was able to have lucid dreams that lasted well over a century. I think it is, I have had frequent dreams of which the longest lasted 2 weeks. (it really felt like that, even after waking up).
so that's me, I hope I haven't bored anyone to sleep yet. Then again, that might be a good thing on these boards .
