      The Best Way to Dream

I want to thank everyone for the nice welcome to the forums. I have another question. I really have trouble dreaming. I can't just fall asleep and dream, it always just happens if it happens. I've gone for weeks without having a dream (one that I can remember anyway). Sometimes I can fall asleep thinking about something and have a dream about it, but not always. I was just curious about other ways that people get themselves to dream.

I've read somewhere that everyone dreams, and those who think they don't just don't remember.

One thing you may want to try is setting your alarm to go after about 6 hours of sleeping, so that you wake up in the REM state. I just started doing that two days ago in order to do a certain LD technique (called WBTB). Both times I've remembered two dreams that happened before the alarm went, and several dreams (4-5) that happened after I fell back asleep. Also, after I wake up from the alarm, I tell myself out loud that I will remember my dreams once I wake up.

      Hope this helps!

You might want to try repeating your intention to remember your dreams over and over to yourself while falling asleep. "I will remember my dreams".

Be sure to have a piece of paper and pen handy by your bedside to record your dreams on, and record whatever you remember after waking up.

And when you first wake up don't move, as when first waking up your dream body won't be connected back to your physical body as much as it is after you move, which makes it much easier to remember your dream.

Good luck. You can succeed at this.

The alarm idea sounds like a good one. i'll have to try it. thanks zaphod. and i have been writing my dreams down in a notebook since i started this LD thing. it helps me remember the dreams i have, gives me a reason to remember them. do you write them in lots of detail iadr, or just the jest of them?

Some people just sleep "too deeply".

Do you often wake up during the night?
Do you see dreams in the morning?
maybe you are taking some supplements/prescription medications (almost all depression treatment drugs inhibit REM sleep)

thanks Ev, but i don't ever really wake up during the night. If i do it's shortly after i fell asleep. And yes most of my dreams occur in the morning, close to when i would normally wake up. But i'm not taking any medication or drugs or anything depressing. i guess i'm just a deep sleeper like you said.

Every detail that you can remember. Write in present tense also.
