Have I been almost falling into LD's?

Quite bluntly, I've been reading up on these techniques, forums, etc. on how to HILD, WILD, DILD, WBTD (I think that's it) and all that jazz. Well I was reading that before going into a WILD LD that you sometimes would feel a sinking sensation. That you are falling through the bed, or through the wall, etc.

Well looking back through the years, that has happened A LOT. By a lot, I mean at least one or two times a week unconciously (This was before I knew of LDing, mind you).

Every time, I did not exactly see the blue swirls but I did get this eerie sensation in me and I saw spots on the roof. Yes, it's weird to explain but my roof I saw colored spots, almost like a rainbow except...darker.

I would then, RIGHT as I'm about to go to sleep feel myself sinking. Or being thrown in a way, or just falling down. I would immediately force myself up, I was scared to hell when this happened back then.

Was I falling into LD's? I mean, in my defense, I have a strong mind. I really only use my creative side of my brain, not exactly my logical side of the brain in every day life (*snicker*) and and just an overall creative guy.

Was I falling into LD's? I was too scared to find out, and one time I did fall into one but I thought I just was waking up (false awakening) and went back to bed.

*Shrug* Advice would be greatly appreciated.

It sounds like your going into SP, LD is when your dreaming and you are aware of it. Everything your describing sounds like a SP, I would recommend looking it up though because once you understand SP you wont be afraid of it when it actually comes onto you. And if you want to lucid dream then going into sleep parylsis is sometimes an easy way.

I know what you're talking about. It's kind of like there's a void that you find yourself about to fall into, but as soon as you get to the edge you jerk back. I've had that happen a couple of times and wish I'd been able to relax enough to keep going; it would have been interesting. I've also had a number of times where when I'm about to fall asleep I get this feeling that someone is about to touch my arm or I'm about to take a step and I'll jerk that limb back and wake right up. It's slightly frustrating.

I'd advise you to check out the WILD (Wake Induced LD) tutorials if you haven't already. It's basically going stright from a waking state into a dream and if you're able to relax yourself that much that often, it might work fairly well for you after some practice

People experience different forms of "hypnogogic hallucinations" which is what you see and feel as you're falling asleep, often when trying to WILD. Some people feel violent shaking, some hear voices, some see swirls of color, but it's not the same for everyone. I'm not an expert with WILDing by a long shot, so my knowledge is limited, but feel free to ask around as there are a number of people who've had success with it.
