hey, im new and have a question

Well I've only ever had one lucid dream, and ever since then I've just been intrigued by the whole idea of it. My first (and only) lucid dream was a couple of years ago, and my friend and I read something recently that sparked my interest about lucid dreaming all over again, only this time I really want to do something about it. I figure that if I've had a lucid once I could have it again, right?

well I tried the...er...wbtb? technique, in which a person sleeps for 5 hours then wakes up and then returns to bed after being awake for an hour or so. Well I did that, and I didn't achieve lucidity...which is sad

BUT something did happen which Im hoping to understand: I was doing the counting thing, the whole..one i'm dreaming, two I'm dreaming, etc. Anyhow I was starting to drift to sleep, but caught myself and pulled back a couple of times. I was hearing voices, and I kind of remember a guy in a cloak, and one voice that said soemthing like "Your Fault!", and that one line startled me out of almost drifting to sleep. Then the voice just echoed in my head, turning into a kind of throbbing pulse. I started to feel this like tingly sensation rush over my body, along with this kiind of like humming and throbbing, and it started to get more and more intense- and I felt like I was vibrating, almost a little violently, and meanwhile I'm trying to push down my panic/ excitement/ fear. I was almost afraid that my body of being possessed by some demon or something crazy like that. So I told myself to be calm, don't panic, don't move, and I tried tricking myself into believing that "it's working"- "gonna enter a lucid dream, how exciting". But REALLY, i was kinda freaked out, and told myself to take deep breathes and not panic and I eventually felt the sensation slowly release me, dull and then fade away.

I don't know what it was, but I feel like I must have been on the brink of something, only I screwed up by being so scared.

And I don't really know what that was all about?

And what can I do next time if I were to try it again?

Search around for more info on WILD - you were all but there... and may actually have been there but didn't realize it. Next time you feel that tingling thing, do a reality check and you might just be astonished.

The pulling back thing is normal too... the weird thing about wilding like that is that you have to sort of "let go" in order to get into the dream. Of course, doing that often results in falling into a dream and forgetting that it's a dream.

In particular, you might want to search for Clairity's WILD technique.

Good luck! You've picked one of the more challenging techniques to get you started.

You were actually very close to a WILD. The guy in the cloak and the noises was most likely HI. Do you know if you were in SP (sleep paralisys) when you saw that guy and heard the voice. SP is when your body is asleep but your mind is awake.

What you can do next time is just try and hold on to these sensations, keep yourself calm, and hopefully you will find yourself right in a dream. You should feel some sort of "shift" And once you feel it do a RC and if it passes, horray you successfully completed a WILD.

Also, this information might be incorrect as I am just a newb at lucid dream. And I also have never gotten to the point of vibrations in a WILD.

to DreamViews, Migato! Good job on getting so close. WILDing can be difficult, but it sounds like you will be able to do it. If that doesn't work out for you, there are other techniques to try (good for the rest of us who can't WILD so easily).

      Good luck, and have fun.

Oh wow...so from what you guys are saying, I was close?? jeezus, I was so freaked out though, what are you supose to do after the vibrations? Are they supose to continue or do they eventaully stop?

and...what am I supose to do after feeling the "vibrations"?

I had no idea I was doing a wild... I thought I was doing a "walk back to bed" one... in fact what's the difference, and what are the easier methods?

Well I didn't really see the guy clearly, just had an impression of him. And I think I WAS kinda paralyzed, only I'm not sure because I was too scared to really try to move, I did feel like a huge tension in my body though while it was vibrating.

Whats a "HI"? and do I continue to try to hold on to my conciousness until I feel that "shift"?

      oh and sorry for all the questions...but I'm kinda dead tired right now (perfect chance to try again) and so I'm kinda eager mcbeaver right now ^^;;

Migato, I think some reading might answer a lot of your questions, plus more that you will probably think of as you go along. The tutorials here could help a lot for immediate information. For further reading, Stephen LaBerge's book "Exploring the World of Lucid Dreaming" is very helpful. Wikipedia has good basic information too.
