      Can't recognise signs

I'm new to lucid dreaming and have difficulty recoginsing dream signs. The other night I dreamt that I was with Will Smith (actor) and we were being attacked by giant Kiwi fruits. I would have thought that would have been a sufficient enough sign that I was dreaming, but I just accepted it as normal. A few nights prior to that I was dreaming and for no apparent reason I realised I was dreaming, but unfortunately woke up with excitement at the thought of becoming lucid. What am I doing wrong?

Could somebody please give me advice on how I can realise I'm dreaming or how I can control my excitement in order to remain lucid please.

      Start doing reality checks often
This will help you to notice when you're dreaming.

      Welcome to Dreamviews!

The whole site is dedicated to helping you realize when you're dreaming. Make sure to read the main site and the tutorials, both of which provide helpful information on getting started with lucid dreaming. You may also want to read the quick start guide for information about the forum itself.

You'll find that you will find it easier to control your exitement over the next few lucid dreams you have. It also helps to plan out before going to bed what you're going to do when you become lucid.

If you need help, feel free to post your question here, or contact any of the Dream Guides (the members with the green names).

Lucid dreams, at least for me, are much more "real" than normal dreams are.

Once in a lucid dream you will be incorporated into the scene that you are watching, it may take the form of turning into a television or something.

Go through your dream journal and find things that occur over and over again. Now remember to do a reality check every time that one of those things occurs (in real life.) For me I do one whenever I say "that's weird" or notice something not working.
