Having many probloms wiht dream recall!?

it takes me about 3-4 days to get my dream recall going again. (which is about 2-4 per night)

My problem is whenever i go drinking or occasionally smoke ( i cut down a lot) it makes my dream recall progress go back down to nothing. Then i have to work back up to where i was. My question is how can i help this, i mean im not going to stop rinking and doing things like that from time to time just to continue dream work.

(note: when i say sometimes i mean only like once or twice a week)
So pardon me while I burst

Dream Journal... I don't have one but most people here will say that having a dream journal works... Dream Journal (Writing down your dreams) (Can be in a journal)

*It's all in your mind... If you think that drinking and smoking will effect dream recall negatively, then you will have bad dream recall... Try to convince yourself that smoking and drinking don't have anything to do with your dream recall...

Just do the best you can on the nights that you are able to do it. You don't have to be perfect for it to help a lot.
