      Total loss of control

Many times when I have a lucid dream, anything that can go wrong, does go wrong. lol. It starts by me thinking "Oh i hope so-and-so doesnt happen" and then what do you know, it happens. I dont seem to have any control over it, the only thing i notice is the second something comes to my mind, a worst case scenario type of thing, it happens in my dream. Has anyone else experienced this, or have any tips on how to gain control?

Sounds quite similar to the thought patterns of someone suffering from obsessive compulsive disorder, always wondering and thinking about what will go wrong and how it will go wrong.

I used to have OCD when I was a kid, but I grew out of it. It boiled down to just knowing that, yes, there is indeed the possibility that something will go wrong, but the liklihood of it doing so is so remote it doesn't need my effort acknowledging it.

However, due to the seemingly uncontrollable aspects of dreams, it can be difficult to prevent them from happening. I would consider trying to either training yourself to divert yourself from worst-case scenario thought-patterns completely, in both waking life and dreams, or perhaps figure out a way to gain more control or integrate those worst-case scenarios positively into your dream.

That is a well known dream phenomenon. I think the best way to over come it is not by trying to avoid doing it, but by giving yourself something else to do. Rehearse a task that you want to accomplish while you are awake. Be determined that you are going to accomplish that task, and that nothing is going to stop you. Hopefully, you will be so focussed when you become lucid that you won't have time to worry. Maybe after a few times, the pattern will be broken.

      Good luck.

i had this for an extremely short amount of time. whenever you think something will go wrong you must think almost in an aggresive way, "this is my dream i am in control and I decide what happens!" remember, you are in complete control. it worked for me the first time i had the problem.
I need my sleep. I need about eight hours a day, and about ten at night.
