      Fighting against Oblivion

Hello dreamers, I grateful to have found this wonderful website and happily anticipating learning from it's forum members.

I've experienced a few lucid dreams before, but my recall of them are quite hazy. Now I am very anxious to grow in the ability to not only remember my dreams but to have complete control over their worlds. To make my nights not empty and devoid of meaning, but full of insight as well as wacky exploits.

I discovered Dreamviews.com only a few days ago, and have since delved into every aspect of it. Last night, thanks to suggestion before I fell asleep, I woke up at least 5 times through the night remembering strange dreams each time. Unfortunately to my current dismay, my exhaustion prevented me from rolling over and recording them down in my journal.

So I only dimly remember them. But I do remember having done a few reality checks while dreaming... but whether they helped me become lucid or not is a null point since I don't remember the events.

I'll improve my motivation from this point on.

My question boils down to concerning this: how even as I am beginning to remember my dreams, they are hazy, dimly recollected, fragmented things.

Will it be possible to remember every detail of them, with practice and time?

While in the dream, what does it feel like? As in, will I be experiencing the dream world as I do the waking one, full of all the sensations? Or will it continue to be akin to nothing more than daydreaming?

Apologies for my rambling, and thank you all for hosting what I've already found to be a very friendly forum.

Looking forwards to hearing and learning from you all. MY PM box and instant messengers are always open.

LDs can feel just like real life. Sensations can be incredibly detailed and vivid and you can even experience sounds/colors/feelings "greater" than in real life.

It can be possible to remember almost every detail in a dream, but it isn't likely to remember every detail of every dream. Recall will come and go naturally, affected by more than just how much mental work you put into it. Things like sleep time, stress, and anxiety can affect your ability to recall.

Also certain drugs and alcohol supress the REM period which could be a reason for decreased recall or vividness.

Einherjar, I'm glad you decided to join us!

Journalling your dreams will definately help improve your recall.. tho, as Out of the Blue stated, TOTAL recall can be pretty hard to come by.

I too find my lucid dreams very lifelike (if not more so).

If you should have any additional questions, please ask.. and we'll do our best to answer them.

      Welcome to Dream Views!

Thank you for the responses, and I'll certainly begin posting mine own dream journal once it begins having more then a few lines in it. Perhaps a few of you will get some quirky excitement or a few laughs from what rolls around in my mind.

I was disappointed with myself last night. I recall no more of my dreams then a single line of conversation between me and my dream father. ... he wanted to sell our dogs at a pawnshop, and buy them back later...?

I had less then my natural amount of sleep, and homework and stress has been bogging me down. It's nice to know that they are the problem and not some natural deficiency in dream recall.

So I'll keep at it, and be sharing my experiences with you all soon!

Less sleep and stress can both negatively impact recall.. at least for me.

I look forward to reading about your experiences!
