I don't do anything hard to get a lucid dream, I just do some reality checks throughout the day, I don't know if they help me, and I think about dreaming as I'm falling asleep. Don't think about dreaming too much or you won't be able to fall asleep at all. Good luck.

How long have you been trying to watch the 'lights'?

If you've just started it might take some time to slip, conscious, into a dream state this way. The more you do this the more elaborate the 'light' patterns will become. After a while they may form into objects, and then into an all out dream. The trick is to try not to 'jump' into the dream scene too soon.

Usually after the lights disappear you'll feel your body shut down. After the SP feeling stops do a reality check, you probably had a FA.
