      Welcome to Dreamviews!

      Congratulations on your lucid dream.

False awakenings are not necessary at all for lucid dreaming. For some people, it's a very effective technique. Either way, they're completely normal occurrences.

If you have any other questions, feel free to ask.

      Welcome to Dream Views.

It's not necessary to have a false awakening to lucid dream though they are helpful when you're first starting out.

I don't know if it's normal to have mulitple false awakenings but I've read of it happening to quite a few others here on site. It's happened to me and is an enjoyably confusing experience to relate.

If it's the only way you can get lucid right now, I say stick with it. Sift through the site and find another method of attaining lucidity in the Tutorials section that could compliment the False Awakening Lucid Dreams.

      Welcome, TheBG!

And congrats on the lucid dream. I had a false awakening in my first lucid dream. And I have had other dreams where I have had a similar experience to yours with multiple FA's.

Anyway, that sounds like a great first lucid dream. I hope you have many more...
