      Hello from South Africa

I have just registered and hope that I will learn to control my dreams which though lucid are very frightening. They always start in my own bed in my darkened room. My reality check is the light switch (yes , I know, very common) and it never works. That's when I think - here we go again - and try to wake up because the physical sensations are really painful. I yell, but it comes out as a croak and beg my husband to wake me up. I would just love not to panic. Such dreams always occur within the first half hour of falling asleep.

I would rather die on my feet then to live on my knees.

Shirls, so you realize that you're dreaming within the first half hour of falling asleep and then want to wake up because you feel physical pain? Physical pain where? Could these be vibrations that you feel?

Clairity, yes the pain is vibrations. More specifically it's like a buzzing through my whole body and feels like an electric shock. It gets more and more intense and really hurts. I've tried various things like just staying with it (horrible, because that culminates in big black shapes sitting on me and trying to crush me) or deliberately trying to relax and get out of bed. It's quite weird because in my dream I am sitting up then I waken to find I'm lying down. I have succeeded in going down the corridor to the lounge, but always there are terrifying "things" trying to get me.

I would really like to control this fear and have some fun instead!

      welcome shirls!
i also had encountered those feelings of very strong vibrations and waking in the dream in my dark room seeing all kind of frightening figures.
in some of them it was really intense like two parents with a baby wanted to cut my throat and huge growling aliens.
it is scary and panic holds us all when we go through this stage, so i would advise you from my experience to try and not panic, don't attemp to control the scene but instead try to control your reactions and beat that fear becouse no harm will come to you in your dreams.
for the painful buzz feeling that you feel when the vibrations accure i can say that it doesn't usually last longer for me becouse i learned at first to enjoy that feeling instead of it driving me from my lucid dream and it shortened and now i don't even fell it for more than 2 seconds.
i hope that you will succeed and you will control your panic and enjoy your lucis dreams.

Oh thank you Vortex. I'm so glad I found this forum - I really thought I was the only one who experienced this. Now that I know it is something to be sought after and not fought against, I kind of look forward to it happening again. Kind of. I'll report back after the next time
