Hello, fellow dreamers! Help me out please.

Hello you guys (and girls). How's it going?

I've been lurking for a while...and I guess I'm tired of lurking now.

You can call me "Dreamer" or "Aree (A-ree)".

I've been wondering though. This happens to me a lot and have since I was small, but I don't know if this has a name or not.

It is when I'm completely awake and feel like I'm dreaming (like now and I KNOW I am awake right now as I'm typing this). It's a weird feeling and I'm sure many ppl have experienced this. And last week, I felt as if I wasn't me, like I was looking in from the outside...I chalked it up to a weird dizzy spell or something because I didn't feel like that once I stopped in my tracks. (I was walking and turned around and boom - that's when I felt that 'feeling' of not being in my body. I do have dizzy spells...so that's why I'm assuming that was one..though the first time I've had one like that.

      Dream on!

Hello OnceADreamer. I'm fairly new here myself but am an experienced LD and OBE'er. What you describe is almost an OBE - I heard one of my favourite radio presenters in the UK describing how he had a similar experience years ago when he was at the dentist. He had received his treatment, got up from the dental chair and was walking towards the door when he was suddenly aware that he was somehow "floating" up in a corner of the ceiling and looking down, watching proceedings. He described watching himself walking, and speaking to the dentist, and at the same time feeling anxious that he might not be able to rejoin his physical body, at which instant, he must have returned because he "awoke" on the floor of the surgery, being helped to stand up.
It made such an impact on him that he remembers it as being the only time this has occurred and often recounts it. Does the sensation worry you at all, say, for instance, if you are driving your car and it happens?

Hey there, welcome to Dream Views.

That sounds like quite the odd experience you had. I'm not sure what it was.

If you're interested in lucid dreaming, you should do a reality check or two when that weird feeling comes around (event though you know you're awake). You might experience that feeling in a dream and when you reality check then, BAM.. you'll be lucid.

Don't know much about OBE's aside from what I read of other's experiences. IF that's what you think you are experiencing you should check out the Beyond Dreaming forum. Maybe there someone can help you find out what those weird feelings are.

Wow, *cheyenne* that is scary! I don't drive but if I did, I would def be very terrified. Well this was the first time I felt like I wasn't in my body but if it became frequent, it would def worry me MUCH more than it does right now. I was freaked out about it but I guess the thought of it being a dizzy spell calms me a little. So is it possible to have OBE's even while awake? I KNOW I was awake and that it wasn't a false awakening even though some may not believe that I was indeed awake.

I am very interested in LDing Vex Kitten and I haven't had one in months. Major dryspell. I do reality checks all the time in real life, but for some reason I just don't do it while I'm dreaming! Even when it's right in my face that it's a dream. I don't know why lol. The times that I did LD, it just 'happened'.

      Thanks the both of you.

I definitely agree with Vex Kitten to do Reality check when you get that feeling.
