      New To Lucid

Well my friend recently told me about this site so I checked it out. It seems pretty cool so I just bought a Dream Journal today planning on waking up at 4 am tonight to write about my dreams (if I can remember them). Well sometimes it takes me a long time to fall asleep (i.e. 1-2 hours) and usually I can't lay still I have to move constantly. So it seems that will be a problem whenever I will attempt to WILD. What I really want to try is to "jump" like in the movie Jumper. It would be so cool if I could do that. I've had a few lucid dreams before where I knew I was dreaming but during those dreams I was close to waking up cause some noise was going on. The close I've ever gotten to controling myself in a dream is when I opened a door. But when I opened the door everything started to get ruined and stuff. I didn't even know I was dreaming then when I took control that 1 time. So does anyone have any tips for me to help me become lucid and to control and alter my dreams?

      Welcome to DV! ^_^

Eh, don't give up unless you're getting frustrated with it then take a break. Once you get that DJ going start reading over looking for common dream signs and just have fun.

There's also a topic somewhere on here about controlling dreams by using force or passive control..i'll post a link if I find it.

EDIT: eh, that didn't take long

Thanks for the link. By the way, what's a DILD, FILD, and SP?

Thanks again, if you don't mind could you briefly explain each of these?

DILD is when you fall asleep then realize you're dreaming in middle of a dream, FILD i believe has something to do with a WILD, which is where you fall asleep consciously. You will have to sleep a few hours before attempting this. And finally SP is something which you will most likely experience while trying to WILD. It is when your body falls asleep and you won't be able to move, the dream comes shortly after this.

DILD and WILD are the two MAIN ways of LDing, others are just different ways of doing them

I've read that some people feel great pain while attempting a WILD and some people don't. Well even though I'm new I'm gonna try to attempt a WILD after I wake up at 4 am to write in my Dream Journal. So basically a DILD is the same thing as being lucid?

It's starting in a NLD and realizing you are dreaming.

As for the WILD part, sometimes I don't get SP and sometimes I don't get HI. As for the pain goes, this morning i got into a WILD and once SP was setting in I got a pain in my neck/head but that went away once I entered the dream, i guess it depends on the person.

Dang... 3 nights full of dreams and I still haven't got lucid yet. Lol, everytime I wake up to write in my DJ then get back in bed to try to WILD I think I just fall straight asleep. Well tonight I guess I'll try harder to keep my mind awake. I'm also gonna try to start doing more RC's during the day n hopefully I'll do 1 in my dreams.

Edit: Have you ever done a RC in your dream and because you were so use to the results being that you weren't dreaming that when you did the RC in your dream the results were the same as when you were awake, that nothing changed when you tried to change something?
