      strange thing is.....

its really weird, i joined not too long ago. i tried the steps and did my dream journal, ate certain foods, got up super early and did about a thousand reality checks a day and i havnt got lucid...

i dont get it. there will be people that join this web site that have a lucid dream the next nite. since ive been doing a dream journal ive enjoyed remembering my dreams more frequently. its just when i sleep it feels like im in complete control and im there but i cant seem to get it across to myself that im dreaming and that im not confined to the single thing happening in my dream.

i feel like im almost there but there is a giant wall right in my path that if i could get over things would be some much simpler.

      any thoughts?

I think you are trying too hard. Yeah, having a dream journal is good, but maybe lay off of the reality checks. you have to understand that lucid dreaming is easy too, when I keep a dream journal I have a lot of lucid dreams and I never do reality checks.

just calm down about it a little, quit trying so hard.

also, just give it some time, but it shouldnt take to long.

Perhaps if you ate your normal food, or gradually got the different foods, you would have better luck.

Those people have more talent. There are people who remember almost all their dreams, have lucid dreams aproximently once a month, and have never HEARD of lucid dreams. Thats talent. You have to work at it a bit harder than them, but not as hard as you have been.

you dont need talent to get lucid dreams frequently. Of course if you have them often without even knowing about it your nartural, but once you know about it, it shouldnt be to hard to get one. Just keep positive about it and know that you can do it. I can get lucid dreams more than once a week when trying, and I dont have talent

      Good luck

Lucid dreams will just come when you least expect them. Keep doing the RCs, but get the idea behind them: you should question your reality, and really wonder if you're awake at the time. You might seem sure you are awake now, but when you're in a dream, you're just as sure it's reality, and then BAM it's not.

On my first Lucids the experience was amazing. I'd tell myself "This is just *not* a dream, it's reality".. but I RCed just to make sure and to my endless surprise it would be a dream.

Keep doing it and it will come. don't worry. Oh, and it is worth all the effort you put into it, I promise

You try. People with talent, or you call them narturals, don't have to. He does.

A pretty valid point. Lucid Dreaming has a *lot* to do with self dictation and experiment-and-learning.

Just try many things: if it works, go further with it; if not, then try something new

It can be. Just because you're a natural and can have them everyday, doesn't mean everyone else can. Some have to work at becoming efficient at LD'ing.

In all the years I lurked on this forum, I could not for the life of me complete a WILD. I have had many, many DILD's, but my goal was to WILD. It took me forever to finally accomplish it (too long, imo). My first one was last month.

So, you see, it is something you can dedicate yourself to and experiment with, like Kromoh said.

kingmatt8, keep on trying, and don't give up. Good luck.

it just takes time. Even if you're doing everything right. Have you tried doing techniques like WBTB or FILD?

Just keep reading tutorials and such. It's always best to learn as much as you can. It will only make it easier. It took me 2 months before my first lucid dream, but it was worth it. Just dont give up on it. Some just take longer than others, that's all, but everyone can lucid dream if they reall want to

Yes, u can dedicate your self to it but its a waste of time to set ur mind on Wilds. If you are going to try to wild just do....Theres nothing special about Lucids same old same old......i have WILD before and when i set my mind to it it took me 3 days to accomplish it(just because i couldn't stay awake...) and ur saying it takes years... thats just bull its teh same as any other thing......so...............................

It took me years (not saying it does for everyone) because 1) I didn't fully dedicate myself to do it. I would go months without trying (I do have a life, and most nights I go to bed exhausted), but would have lucids dreams, anyway, and 2) I tend to stress a lot, and stress (for me) impairs my ability to become lucid.

You cannot go around saying it took me three days, so it shouldn't take you long either; that's like me throwing my youngest daughter in the pool and saying it took your brother two days to learn how to swim, it shouldn't take you that long either. Everyone is different. We don't all have the same brain.

The bottom line is: LD'ing is different for everyone. Good for you for being a natural.

When i posted that i was in a naive state where i had all the Lucids i wanted with hardly any effort. Now though, i haven't had much luck, i don't know what happened i just fell into a big dry spell and i am actually trying really hard to lucid dream againI am really sorry for that comment i was too cocky and now i cant even wild. It's like starting from scratch since i was a natural now i have to work for it and i don't know why it happened i just lost my ability to lucid I've been trying really hard and so far i've only gained vivid dreams that i can remember when i wake up and i really miss Lucid dreams
