I really don't know much about hypnagogic images or sounds. I really am too lazy to try doing all that prep work to have a lucid dream. Plus I've had a lucid dream before with no prep work, so I am sure I can do it again. What I've been trying is to keep myself aware of going to sleep.
A few days ago I was lying down and trying to stay aware by repeating things in my head. It kind of worked. I could tell I wasn't really fully conscious. As I was repeating things in my head I started thinking of a sound in my head and I heard it in my room. It kind of shocked me. I tried not to focus on it. My body felt weird. It felt like I was high or something. My whole body felt like it was weightless and just floating in space. I could not stop myself from giving this attention and I soon totally woke up.
Is there a term for this stuff? If I keep trying my technique and not pay too much attention to these things will I enter a dream lucid?
