Hypnagogic sensations. The floating feeling, sounds, images... Practically any hallucination you get when in the waking-sleep phase. |

I really don't know much about hypnagogic images or sounds. I really am too lazy to try doing all that prep work to have a lucid dream. Plus I've had a lucid dream before with no prep work, so I am sure I can do it again. What I've been trying is to keep myself aware of going to sleep. |

How would I find out when I need to wake myself up to do this? I've heard people say get five hours of sleep and then wake up, but a lot of the time the most sleep I can get is five hours sometimes close to six. If I can wake up and just go back to sleep it would be fine, but from what I read I need to get up and kill 30 minutes to an hour. Which would just cut into the time I can sleep, which would ruin the rest of my day. |

You don't need to stay awake for 30 minutes. These are just techniques. All you can do is experiment with it. Do it on the weekends or when you have time. I need those 6 hours of sleep as well, so I don't really try it as much douring the week. In the end you could do it as soon as you go to bed if you want. Even if you don't succeed, only thinking about it might pass into a dream and then give you a DILD. |

I've been a big believer in HI's. I consider them to be an easy gateway to Lucids if you can maintain focus. I think they are missed way too often. Pay attention to "all" as you drift off. Most of my lucids are (wake back to bed) WBTB method and HI have been the key. |
