      New in town

I've just signed up for this forum today (yay!) and have been keeping a dream journal for the past few weeks. I'm still pretty new to lucid dreaming (still haven't had one that I can remember yet), but that's exactly why I'm here: to get better at it.

So, in being new, I'm not really sure what techniques for LDing or increasing dream recall work the best. Now, I'm sure that any one specific technique cannot work for everyone, since we are all wonderfully unique. But I am very interested in getting some pointers on where to start. My girlfriend is getting pretty good at it, and I have a little catching up to do.

So, in short, if you have any suggestions for someone who's kind of new at this, let me have 'em!

      Thanks :]

Hey, welcome to the forum, have a good time.

Also, umm, you seem to have made two of these threads. No matter! The staff will do something cool.

DILDs are easiest, start doing reality checks and searching through your dream journal for dream signs. There are nice tutorials on both reality checks and dream signs on the home page.

      Hey busta,
Hows your dream recall been? Have you noticed your dream journal helping?

If you want to increase your chance of a lucid, try combining the techniques Ninja mentioned with a Wake Back To Bed (WBTB). You wake up after a few hours of sleep to activate your brain, then return to bed to finish off your nights sleep. Check out the tutorials section for more info on how that works. If you keep up the reality checks and dream journal, you're bound to get a few lucids.]

Once you get the feel for them, you can try out more advanced techniques to start having lucids whenever you want.

Is your girlfriend a member here too?

She is indeed. Her user name is kaeraz, and she's been onboard for a few months, learning different induction methods and such. Since then, we've gotten a couple of books which have helped (the most informative and effective probably being "Creative Dreaming" by Patricia Garfield, Ph.D.). She's built up a pretty good dream recall, while mine is still somewhat spurratic, so I'm getting ways to make it more consistant.

      Hopefully it all works!

Hey, I know her, she's the one with a pic of herself doing a nose RC right? Try Exploring the World of Lucid dreaming by Stephen Laberge, it's the bible of LDing.

Yeah, I know Kaeraz. Good to have you both here. Once you get going, you should try some cool partner dreaming stuff.

That's her! Yeah, I hear you. We've already got that book, and I couldn't agree more as far as how well it lays out the approach to becoming lucid. However, at the time I was reading the book, I had to stop right in the middle because I got to the part where they reccomend that you have a well built dream journal before you continue reading on, and I wasn't that involved in it at that time. Although, I did end up starting my dream journal because of that book, so it was definitely worth the read... or half read. . . or whatever you would call that.

I haven't put many entries in my journal lately, partly due to my lack of concentration recently and my early morning laziness (sometimes you just can't find an effing pen, you know?). After I put a few more entries in my journal, I'll probably finish the book and see what happens
