      Look! Another Newbie thread!

      Ok, so here goes:

First off, thanks to whomever is reading this. I'm another newbie, but I know the basics of lucid dreaming by now so I'll try to avoid hassling you all with tiresome questions. (I've been studying it for a couple weeks.)

I haven't had many LDs before that I can remember, and those that I have had were low-lucidity ones where I could just barely comprehend that the scene wasn't in waking reality.

As far as dream recall goes, I'm pretty dreadful. I've kept a dream journal before, but for non-LD purposes. Over the past two weeks of starting a new journal, my recall's been improving marginally, so I guess it's just a matter of time until it's really polished.

At the moment, I have yet to start attempting induced LDs. I'm still waiting and working on my dream recall, and finding out about different techniques and such.

That's it for now, really. I'm looking forward to using this forum and learning a lot more about lucid dreaming in the process. Thanks and bye!

If you lay in bed perfectly still after you wake up then your dreams will come back to you after a minute or two.

Thanks for the heads-up about lying still. I'm usually grabbing for my journal and pen before I remember that I'm supposed to try to recollect the dreamscene instead of just going on what I remember at the moment of waking.

I have one question regarding reality checks:

I've heard 2 pieces of advice about utilizing reality checks during waking life:

      1. You should perform reality checks as much as possible throughout the day.

      *OR*

      2. You should only perform reality checks when you see or come into contact with one of your recurring dreamsigns.

Does one of these yield better results than the other? Right now I usually only perform reality checks when I see a dreamsign in waking life, or when I wake up after sleeping. Should I change this?

Both, do them at random times throughout the day, but always do them around recurring dream signs.

      Ah, ok. Thanks very much.

I'll start doing these more often, then.
