      New

Hello! I'm new to the forum and about two weeks into trying to have lucid dreams but I still haven't made a breakthrough yet . I can remember my dreams very well, I've started to do reality checks, and I keep a journal now but I feel like I have no control over my mind or body once I fall asleep. It's kind of like I go back and forth between being me and being an outsider looking in on all of my actions (if that makes any sense haha). I'm looking at all the tips on the site though and I'm really excited to try these techniques you guys are posting (I've been trying mantras for the past week or so but they don't work at all for me). Any advice would be great though, thanks.

Welcome!!! Keep up with what you're doing and you'll get a lucid dream... Just by being a member on the boards my lucid dream count has increased by a large amount... Keep working on dream recall with your dream journal and things will work out...

      Heya Panic!

Right, could you explain what exactly you're trying? From what I've read, you're doing everything okay and if you keep it up, you will have a Lucid Dream. However, I do not know what you're trying so I can't promise you the best help in the world. I'll help you to revise what you should be doing though. If you're going for the DILD technique, as you do, a Dream Journal is recommended, if you need help or inspiration, you can take a look at my Dream Journal which I have provided a link for in my signature. Another thing is Reality Checks, fix these into your daily events. This basically means, when you do something, make it a habit to follow it with a Reality Check, here is an example: When you turn your light on, do a Reality Check. Before you turn the light on, do a Reality Check. That in itself is a Reality Check, lights not working is very popular in dreaming. Every time you turn a computer or TV on do a Reality Check, every time you use the toilet, do a Reality Check. You don't have to do them but good dedication to Reality Checking is the key, along with relaxation, but we'll get to that in a bit.

Next, we come to food and drink. Certain foods and drinks can help you to become lucid and remember your dreams, for a beginner, if you are, I recommend Chocolate and Milk, as they are the most enjoyable (in my experience anyway).

Now for the relaxation talk, do not worry or stress about not being able to Lucid Dream. First off, you will lucid dream, time differs for people to have their first Lucid Dream. Secondly, don't stress because it kills Lucid Dreams. Relaxation is a big part in Lucid Dreaming and that's the key to all aspects, always remember that.

Lastly, like NightLife said in a post above, just being a member can help. Read a lot of stuff about Lucid Dreams, it tells your subconscious mind about it so even if you're not really bothering to do it, your subconscious will remember it and is learning.

Welcome to the community, have an awesome time, I think you most probably will!
