      Nightmares

ok I havent read everything about having lucid dreams yet because I was wondering something. They said that you cancontrol your nightmares. But I am trying to become an author and i need some nightmares. So what I am thinking is that I start to have a lucid dream can it be a nightmare?

Nightmares usually come from a fear of something.

      Are you afraid of anything?

What type of author are you trying to become?

      dear Misbijoux,

I like nightmares that are realistic and are like horror movies. But at the same time that is what I am scared of but I like the feeling of it because I can get into my characters and it gives me ideas sometimes. So will it make it harder for me to have a nightmare if I am scared at the time but I like it in the end??

Drink a shot of hot sauce. Watch videos of simeese twins, disturbing things, 9/11 calls, tragic stories, executions, etc. Make yourself gag at them. If you want a true night terror do this. I had one that disturbed me for 2 weeks. A real nightmare doesn't feel like a horror movie. It feels like eternity in a cycle of terror.

Ideally a lucid dream can be anything you want it to be.

However, dream control determines how much godly powers you wield in a LD. If you lucid dream and have tremendous control you could change your dream into a nightmare with but a mere thought.

      Good luck with that.
If you write a book based on a lucid nightmare be sure to tell us about it so we can snag it up whenever it gets released.

A book suggestion for you - "Writers Dreaming" by Naomi Epel. (Subtitled "Twenty-Six Writers Talk About their Dreams and the Creative Process") Since you are into horror, you might be especially interested in the chapters from Clive Barker, Anne Rice and Stephen King. (Both Shelley's "Frankenstein" and Stevenson's "Strange Case of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde" were based on the authors nightmares.) Good luck to you -

      Lucid Nightmares

Hello, this is my first time on the site and this looked like the most interesting thread. I have to say I never thought about attempting to control my dreams, I notice when I do get to control them I realize it's a dream which makes it easier to wake up (Does anyone else notice that?) I find when I'm in a nightmare I can control it with out realizing it's a dream, a long time ago I remember being chased by these four legged creatures, black creatures probably made out of some sort of tar and muscle, I ran into what looked like the theatre and there was an old fasion elevador that I ran into, I didn't have enough time to close the cage doors so I curled up in the corner and put my hands over my head and started saying "Please go away" a few times, and when I looked it was either gone or stopped attacking me. And that's not the first time it had happened. I haven't yet started writing my dreams down because I never thought of it until this morning when I was curious about the sleep cycle and the dream cycle. I was also wondering.... Should I write previous dreams down? Ones that I remember form a long time ago? I have a few but I couldn't remember the dates if my life depended on it. (Also, I'd like to try to write a book and being able to control my dreams would be a cool way to help me write.)

I also recall (With out waking up multiple times through the night) having multiple dreams. And how do you know if they're full dreams or just fragments?
