      quick question

The other night I was trying to FILD but I fell asleep. The weird thing is that it felt like I only closed my eyes but then my fingers stopped moving and suddenly my alarm went off but it was an hour later. It felt like I was awake the whole time and did not remember a dream.

Help ? was it a lucid dream?

No, it was not a lucid dream, I'm afraid. If it was, you would have known that you were dreaming. You say that you fell asleep, so you probably either didn't dream, or you don't remember your dream(s) if you had any.

      Nope, you just fell asleep

If you really felt like you were awake that whole time then next time about ten minutes into it you might want to do a reality check. Almost all WILDs (FILD is a type of WILD) start out with a false awakening.

Thank you and next time I'll make sure if it's a false awakening or not

Also, I believe it's important to mention that you don't dream during all stages of sleep, most, if not all, is done during REM(or this is what we can gather using current scientific techniques).

here's a good short page that explains sleep cycles
      http://www.sleepdex.org/stages.htm

But, you can drop directly into REM sleep if you're tired, or napping.
