      A recurring dream...From a newbie.

It's not the same dream over and over again, but the scenarios are almost always the same kind of thing.

From my viewpoint, I know whatever it is, I am.(confused yet? good, me too.) I'm almost 8 ft tall, covered in dark moist fur, almost as if I'm covered in oxygen poor blood(with some of the things I do in my dreams, I wouldn't be surprized if it is blood). I have long claws and I know I have fangs, I can feel them in my mouth. To my knowledge I never talk, more gutteral growling than anything else. Everywhere I(it) goes, nothing but pain, death, suffering, torture and hatred follow. Most times it is the perveyor of death and one or two other times, it's manipulating someone else to do it. And I see it all. A small voice in the creature pleading for it to stop...it never does, I am typically aware that I'm dreaming. Or at least, I say that in the dream...but control is never there. The creature is very wolf-like, but it's not a "werewolf" or anything like that.

It doesn't feel "nightmarish" in the sense that I never feel terror or fear. Just an abiding hatred, anger, loathing...and separate to the entity, I feel pity, remorse and regret...

Scenario's vary. Typically I'm flying over a field of lights. It feels like I'm searching for something. Once I find it...I speed to the light. Then when I get in...I rip through who ever it is that is there. Torturous measures are usually taken to ensure that the person/creature I see there is properly brought to a quick understanding of pain.
      Any thoughts?

well, that sounds bad man, like a nightmare but it doesnt 'frighten you'?
well ok here goes my amateur report
mmkay so its a recurring theme eh,i had that once but it wasnt a nightmare, they most usually reflect on something in your waking life.
maybe you have a suppressed desire, like a anger you keep locked up? dreams have a tendancy to express emotions youve suppressed that day.
could also be that you have a vendetta against somewone but dont yet know who it is that your hating (example somewone wrecks your car and you want revenge, but dont know who did it)
or i could be totally wrong, and it could just be you watching too much TV

anyway solutions, try to clear anything in your life thats unfinished, broken relationships,a lurking hatred of somewone but dont tell em,stuff like that.

i hear theres a nightmare tutorial if youd like to read that its under the tutorials forum accessible from the http://www.dreamviews.com/forum/index.php <---index

well i hope that helps, ive had the bliss of never having to go through a nightmare, ever so i cant relate to what one is.

good luck in sorting your problem out!

Do you own a dog? If so, are you very close to it? If you are, maybe that's one reason why you have wolf-like tendencies. I agree that anger (even on a subconscious level) can cause such dreams in certain people, but so can feelings of depression or a lack of control IRL. Also, you may be going through a phase in your life and you may not be aware of it's presence. How long have you had these dreams? If it hasn't been very long, then there's a good chance they'll fade into something else....at least I hope so.

Have you ever tried using that wolf-body as a dreamsign? The next time you become it, maybe you can use that as proof that you're dreaming and try to take charge of your dream. If you can, you can try changing your appearance, or try to find out why you're acting like you do. I wouldn't worry too much about these dreams, although they are quite strange. I find that focusing too much of my time on angry/loathesome/depressing memories often causes me to feel those emotions more. Before you go to sleep, try to visualize a contrasting image and tell yourself that you're not that nightmarish creature, but something better.

      That's just my advice.

I've been having these dreams for over 5 years. I have only recently gotten a dog. A nice full bred AKC boxer. "Mongo" is great. He's 6 months old, and he's already 55 lbs. He's terrific. But since I've been having the dreams for years, and he's only half a year old...

And I think I do use the Beast as a dreamsign. I've never been able to take control or figure anything out about the dream, but I distinctly remember stating I knew I was dreaming, because he only shows up in dreams. Perhaps my dream self doesn't truely believe it or something. I don't know.

Another thing about it, is that I never feel rested after these dreams, and I've been told that I look like I'm fighting something in my sleep. IE swinging my arms and making very distinct punching and kicking motions.

now when you say that,it sounds like you should see a doctor about that.
try for 5 days to make it a lucid dream, when you realise your in a dream, you have to EXPECT to be able to control it.
i guess its like a cold swimming pool,if you toe-test it to see how cold it is,youll never get in because you just cant. but if you jump in then...

i dunno, bad example? if after 5 days you still have no luck then see a doctor/try some melotonin to help you rest easy.

but i really would try to stick with the turning to nightmare into a lucid dream idea.

Have you tried constructing a protective/impenetrable barrier around yourself? If one doesn't work, make more layers. Have you tried controlling the elements: conjure fire to burn them, conjure air to blow them away, conjure water to drown them or wash them away, etc. If you have, then let's keep working w/ this.

Also, have you tried summoning a "master". Think of it this way, in your dream you might have a mentor teaching you to fight in your dreams or something like that, but he's always been more powerful than you since he's the teacher. Try summoning someone like that to take on what you may not be able to.

It's recurring, but it's off and on. It usually pops up once or twice a week. I know I won't be harmed. I think something in the field of lights lets me know what I'm going to be dealing with at the time. Last night, I didn't have the dream, but I will try to do the impenatrable barrier...thing is, if the beast and I are the same, won't I be creating this barrier around him as well?
I've never tried summoning a master. I may try that as well...but it's all about control, and I don't think I have that much control in the dream. All I have ever been able to do is yell, scream, plead, and talk to the beast.
I don't think I've ever been able to sway a decision...except for once, and that one...I actually enjoyed because of who the beast was tormenting...but there's only been one instance of that. I haven't actually tried summoning elements, but the beast seems to be able to do just about anything in the dream. Including fly, summoning fire, summoning solid objects: swords, knives, pistols, even a squid once. He doesn't (I don't)seem to need light to see, extremely strong, smart(somehow, I can sense his intelligence...and when he dissects <whatever> he seems to know exactly what he's going for and how to get to it.)

I've been trying to recall and control my dreams by speaking to myself as I go to sleep. That "I will remember my dreams. If the Beast appears, I will control him"
I am the beast in the night
      come to destroy and rebuild.
