Smile Newb here. Got Q's. Help Appreciated!

Hello all! I have to admit that I am really amazed something as wonderful as this forum exists.

I have been randomly been having DILD since I was in my young teens. I think that is what it is called when you are in a dream and realize you are dreaming. I have done things as flying, seen the most beautiful oceans and scenery, to even having powers like spiderman. I have interacted with other DCs, talked to people who have passed away, and made sure I could read words in dreams.

I also have had very bad low points where I was scared to sleep due to sleep paralysis and other "beings" trying to haunt/hurt me. I have had several nightmares where I have been hurt and I DO feel the pain. It feels as real as when I'm awake. I have mastered how to wake myself everytime when this happens. I also came at the realization that there is nothing truly there and it was in my mind. (I havn't had one of these in a long long long time thankfully).

Anyways, I always thought these things were random in occurance and just found out now that there are others who can do this every night. (This is what I am very interested in).

Going through the tutorials, it looks like learning how to WILD is a sure fire way to enter a LD effectively. I want to put best efforts into learning this method.

I'm wondering if this truly is the best or is there another one that is better?
I'm also wondering if doing this will leave me sleep deprived for work?

      Any comments are greatly appreciated!

      to Dream Views, Eetaku.

You've got a good head start if you've already experienced a lucid dream. The best way to start having regular lucids is to get in the habit of keeping a dream journal. Check out the Dream Journal section if you want to do it online.

Try to incorporate a couple techniques into your daily life. Start with Reality Checking, and working on staying aware during your days. Then, integrate a short Wake Back to Bed (WBTB) every now and again. WBTB is a great way to increase your dream recall and your chances for lucidity. Any technique you decide to try, like some form of MILD or WILD should be performed during a WBTB.

Try a couple of the different WILD and MILD techniques out to see which one fits you. There are a lot of good ones in the Tutorials section:

You shouldn't have any problems with sleep deprivation, as long as you don't start doing an hour long WBTB. Lucid dreaming in itself does not interfere with your sleep. If anything, remembering more dreams should make you feel more rested and refreshed in the morning. You just had all these great adventures!

Wow. Thanks for the response Robot Butler! I read about dream journals and I usually remember my dreams every night anyways.

The WBTB sounds like an excellent way to start off. I will experiment with both WILD and MILD to see which one fits me.

It is good to know it doesn't deprive sleep. I was thinking that the feeling of being awake in dreams make it like you didn't sleep at all.

      Thanks for your help!

      Yo Eetaku.

Welcome to the forum! Along with what Robot_Butler suggested, I recommend reading more about Lucid Dreaming automatically really. Just reading about it can increase your chances.

Something else, you can find Dream Signs in your dreams. If you look into your dreams a lot of the time, you might find similar things happen in them in most of your dreams. As an example, I dream about my old school a lot of the time, this is my Dream Sign. You can find more information on this in the Lucid Dreaming Quick Start Tutorial, in Step 2, here - Click

Dreamsigns look like a good way to recognize I am in a dream. I usually just suddenly realize, "hey im dreaming, cool." I never really noticed any similarities when I was dreaming, I guess that's what a dream journal is for. Thanks Jdeadevil.
