      Almost had Lucid dream

      Hello everybody

Have been trying to lucid dream for 3 days now and tonight I had my first positive reality check but the surroundings very kind of unclear and I suddenly woke up after I realised that I was dreaming. Is this normal? How can I stay in there longer and make it clearer! Thanks for your answers!

      Hi, welcome to the forum.

The most general advice I can give you to maintain lucidity is to contain your excitement and to actually do something/become involved in the dream. Nonetheless, if you do inadvertantly exit the dream, don't move, keep you eyes closed and you may be able to re-enter it with in a few seconds; This is known as a DEILD.

You could have a look in the Dream Control sub-forum for threads with further advice remedy the problem.

      Congratulations on the lucid.
Thats pretty normal for your first lucid. Its kind of a bizarre feeling, so you need to get used to it. Psychology student has already hit you with the good advice . I would just add that you want to ground yourself in the dream. Look at something closely or touch something and feel the texture. It also helps to touch your own body and look at your hands. This will keep you from getting confused feeling your real body back in bed.

If the dream is lacking clarity, you can try verbal commands like yelling "Clarity, now!" or "Stabilize!"
