Well I'm pretty sure one of the main reasons why we don't recognize the fact that we're dreaming is because our judgement is thrown out of wack since our brain waves have a lower frequency (your brain waves determine your state of conciousness). What you are experiencing are dream induced lucid dreams (DILD), which is how most lucid dreams are achieved. You should try some of the techniques, especially the MILD technique and the WBTB (WBTB has the best results out of anything). In case you're not familiar with WBTB, or too lazy to find what it means, it goes like this: Sleep for 5-6 hours, then stay up for 30-60 minutes while reading about lucid dreaming (www.lucidity.com is a good place), then go back to bed while telling yourself to become lucid. Staying up for 30 minutes doesn't give as good results as 60 minutes, but it does make it easier to fall asleep. Anything after 60 minutes dramatically decreases your ability to become lucid.
