Welcome to DV!
1: Not really any need to limit yourself. Don't worry about anything catastrophic happening, the worst thing that can happen is that you wake up. Nothing can physically hurt you in dreams. Though I will advice you to stay as calm and relaxed as you can when reaching lucidity, or trying to do anything. Too much excitement might wake you up (but it doesn't have to).
2: Try it! It's a safe anger outlet, and as you said, the worst thing that can happen is that you wake yourself up. And if you do, just lie still and try to return to the dream.
3: Poke it!

And please report what happens when you do. I'm intrigued.
4: As already mentioned, try meditating. If your thoughts still wander while meditating, try listening to some calming music, and focus on the music.
5: No. Dreaming is a natural thing, and lucid dreaming can happen naturally, too. I know there are several Christian lucid dreamers on here, as well. If someone tells you otherwise, I really wonder why they would consider it a contradiction.
Don't hesitate to ask if you are more questions.
