No, you can't dream that you know that you're dreaming. The brain doesn't do recursion |

This morning when I woke up, I remembered a dream I had where I did the clock reality check many times, all failing. I realized I was dreaming and proceeded to try and summon someone. At one point I remember spinning, whether because I read about it and it was in my subconscious or I thought I was losing lucidity, I'm not sure. |

Why not? I'd say anything is possible in dreams! wouldn't you!? |

okay I have had a dream where I thought I was lucid I saw my body from a third person perspective and thought it was lucid though I really had no control because I was merely watching! |

actually ninja, I've dreamt that I was lucid dreaming. Like, I kept saying "hey I'm dreaming! I'm lucid" and would do things that I would do in a lucid dream but I had absolute 0% control. I know the definition of lucid dreaming is to be aware that you're dreaming, but although my dream self kept saying I was, I really didn't know it. I wasn't aware of the fact that I was dreaming at all. As far as I was concerned when I said "i'm dreaming", they were only words that had no meaning. So yes, it's possible to dream that you're lucid dreaming, but doesn't happen as often as you might think. Mostly it's just because you didn't have much control and it was fuzzy, but it really was a lucid dream. Just a crappy one. |

I had pretty much the same thing happen last week. Despite what others say, I'm sure it was just a dream of a LD. Said "hey, I'm dreaming", expected the dream to suddenly come to life, but it didn't. Was still very much an unconscious dream. I'm sure it was just all my thoughts of LDs throughout the day creeping into my dream. |

I think it's a very blurred line, and definitely arguable. |

If you know your dreaming, its a lucid dream. Very simple to grasp in my opinion. |
|
There was nothing lucid about the dream I had. It bore no resemblance to reality; it was just like any other dream. I just happened to dream that I became aware I was dreaming. |

i definitely had dreams of me thinking about being lucid, or dreaming that i was dreaming. i know it sounds confusing and far fetched but this happened several times. recently i had a dream about people becoming lucid (this is during a false awakening) and they kept disappearing and reappearing again. i just stood there and watched. i thought to myself "if only they can become lucid then they wouldn't have to do that, they would be able to control their actions!". very strange to say the least. |

What I mean is, it was just a vague series of images in my head, like a movie, or like any ordinary dream. There was no semblance of reality. I didn't feel like I was really in the dream at all. |

I get what they mean, ninja. Something just clicks when you become lucid. You can say it's a dream all you want, and do things thinking you're lucid, but unless that something clicks, you're not really lucid. |

This guy,, and this guy,

Hmm, that's definitely something to think about. |
