I can answer the first question pretty well, about dream recall.
What I do to remember my dreams is jot down some details about the dream right after I wake from it, on a small notebook I keep next to my bed. In the morning I read what I wrote and that usually helps me remember the full dream. It works for me, it may or may not work for you

The second question about controlling your dream I don't think I'm qualified to answer, because I have had such few lucid dreams. But you can check on the homepage of Dreamviews for some info on dream control at this link, http://www.dreamviews.com/dreamcontrol.php.

      Hope this helped

      Good advice, Zackk.

What have you tried to help you remember your dreams? Do you keep a dream journal (DJ)? Do you take notes on any dreams you've had at night when you wake up? Etc.

When you wake up, lay perfectly still. Try and go back to sleep, your brain thinks that you are going to sleep so it turns on all of your dreaming part and your dream memory is the first to come back.

Try to keep at it. You are developing new habits, and that can take some time.

And remember, dream control and lucidity are not necessarily the same thing. I like Billybob's tutorial about dream control:

You can try autosuggestion. This is an easy, incredibly effective technique that can be useful for a lot of lucid dream goals.

To do autosuggestion come up with a short sentence or phrase that sums up your goal, in this case try "I will wake after every dream." Repeat this to yourself a bunch during the day. The more you do it and the more thought you put into it the faster it will work. I suggest repeating it about 15 times each time you walk through a door way. While you use the bathroom. While you wait in line or have any "down" time. Repeat it some more while getting ready for bed, and finally while laying in bed. Think about it while you repeat it. Get excited about it. After a while (often in 2 days to 2 weeks) your subconscious will get the idea and you'll start waking up after each dream.

Another way you can try is to set an alarm (vibrate on a cell phone would work well) to go off every 30 minutes during the night. The idea is that eventually the alarm will wake you from a dream and you can write it down.

I hope this helps! Good luck!
