      Question Advices?

Hello everybody, I just joined into this forum after I learnt about this from a friend.
I have had few dreams the last few years, sometimes none in months, let alone lucid dreams. What are the first steps to getting lucid dreams?

The ones I have heard are about
      1) Keeping a dream journal; however, it seems ineffective anyways, because I don't seem to have any dreams anyways. If I have dreams and I forget, I just have a gut feeling that I forgot a dream...
      2) Light level; this doesn't seem to work because I usually close my door when I sleep and it's complete darkness, and I have already tried opening the door and leaving the light on when sleeping, but it didn't work...
      3) Dreams occur in specific places; I have had dreams when I visit some places, when I least expect it to happen, but it seems to be random dreams...

The ones I have heard people use
      1) Take pills in order to increase some level of some things in order to raise a level of something that will help with dreaming; is this really safe and good for the body? Is it really worth the dreams?
      2) Come into the forum; Well, I have been part of many forums, and maybe that's the reason it doesn't affect me too much...

      Any suggestions?
Sorry if I seem too much against dreaming, but please don't say you don't have any suggestions

I was going to say everything you said...Hmm...

Ah! To help with your recall problems, have you thought about Auto-suggestion? You could plant the goal in you mind of remembering your dreams the following morning. Also, I use to take B6 to increase the vividness of my dreams. My health is fine, but I used it differently to avoid problems just in case. I would also suggest Reality Checks, because when you do them, it makes you think about dreams, so there might be a possibility that your recall could increase from that as well.

      Hope I helped.

You really should try to keep a dream journal. When you wake up, even if you feel a certain emotion for some reason, write it down. The actual process of recording anything you remember from a dream is what helps you remember more. Since I started a dream journal (only a week ago), my recall spiked from the occasional foggy dream memory to about 2-4 vivid dreams per night.

Yes, the things that were mentioned will definitely help you a lot. If you want to have lucid dreams, then every time you see something weird or dream-like, and you think you might be dreaming, do a reality check, such as trying to breathe with your nose plugged, looking at your hands, or flipping a light switch. Also, start a dream journal. It may not seem to help, but it is essential to improving your recall, which seems to be quite poor. Good luck.

Well as you might have already learned just by reading a few threads in this forum, the journal technique is pretty common and works very well for some people, but what I would say to a person who is new to this and who is trying different things is to start with, is: reality checks...try them and become almost obsessed with them...if this does not work, then start thinking about other stuff. Good luck

I just started yesterday but I was the same as you before then, I just went to bed saying "I want to remember my dreams" over and over again, and I had 3 dreams yesterday that I remember. Including one where I almost hit lucidity.

You are having dreams every night. You just are not remembering them. The point of the dream journal, is to give you motivation to try and remember your dreams. Once you get in the habit of trying to remembre your dream every time you wake up, you will stop forgetting your dreams.

The three best things to get a lucid dream are a dream journal, frequent reality checks throughout the day, and Wake Back To Bed during the night. If you do this, and keep lucid dreaming on your mind, you will have a lucid pretty quick.
