      A few questions.

Hey, so I'm pretty new here, and am an inexperienced lucid dreamer. Though I've had multiple lucid dreams, they're really lacking in... substance, I guess is the right word.

Oh, I know most of these are probably already answered, but I'm not totally sure where to look, so sorry for reposting a repost of a repost's repost, but it'll make my life a little easier

A typical lucid dream for me would probably be me questioning something that I do, which leads to me going lucid. However I never really stay lucid that long, usually 4-6ish minutes and it can be a little more fuzzy than it was before I went lucid. My control is okay, but could be better. Sometimes when I try to fly I can only jump very high and fall slowly (even though that is still pretty kick ass), or if I want to shoot lightning bolts from my fingertips I only produce minimal static, or something completely different.

Ok, that wasn't really a question, but any advice in that topic would be very benefitial.

First real question, how specific should my dream journal be? I usually try to keep it very specific, but lately I've been getting somewhat lazy and have been taking fewer and fewer details. I've noticed that my dreams have been less vivid than before, is that from my lazyness?

Me and my friends are probably going to smoke some pot later tonight. I've heard that can affect dream recall, is that true?
Granted, I don't smoke much, if I had to put a number on it, I'd say no more than 2 times a month, and usually I go a few months without.

I've heard there are certain foods and vitamins that can help with dreams in general, do they help or are they more placebo.

Finally, what is a dream guide. I've heard some talk about them, but never really a definition, if there is one.

Thank you in advance for helping out a noob.

Cannabis is both a depressant and a hallucigent, it can make you have realy vivid, or realy dull dreams depending on your tolerance and how long before sleeping you smoked it.
from personal experiance...ive had some pretty cool relaxed dreams from sleeping while high, but no lucid's
also, your recall when you wake up will be realy bad so keep a pen and paper handy.

Ive had great lucid success with vitiman b6 and b12, and my most vivid, long, crazy out of this world lucid was with a nicotine patch.

but you should work on your natural ability to become lucid and controll your dreams before attempting to improve your experiances.

Question Waking up from a dream...

Waking up from a dream has been something I could always do. However, It usually is a forced action on my part. I am Forcing my self to wake up for no reason only to wake up. and moments before I am Unable to move my body...(Prior to waking I can not move my arms or legs at all. FEEL RESTRAINED.)

this forced action is accompanied by thought "I am awake, I can see everything around me, I cannot move, I am worried that I cannot wake up."

this goes on several times in the night. 3 - 4 times a night. and usually(seemingly) seconds after I fall asleep.
The Visuals that I have are not of seeing myself. But, As if I am wide awake and can see the room as if I were just laying there relaxing. However, No motor movement.

ANy ideas? THis is a generalization however as accurate as I can be in detail.

Also, TO be more specific, Once I do go to sleep I have regular dreams. No restrictions dreaming. ? Puzzling for me and very Bothersome...

Theoretically speaking... It is some sort of uncontrollable Astral-Projection. and I force awakening because of FEAR?? any other theories?

I see what you mean with being very specific, I wrote a really really detailed dream down this morning which should help me some.

Oh and thank you very much.

      CatBus. That's Miyazaki, right?

There are all kinds of tricks to prolong your lucids. I like to touch everything around me, look at my hands, and keep telling myself it is a dream. Do you lose your lucidity and fall back into a regular dream? Or do you normally wake up? I like to have a concrete goal set ahead of time, so I will be sure to stay lucid long enough to accomplish it.

If you have questions about foods and vitamins, check out the lucid aids section of the site:

There is always a discussion about some food that helps people get lucid. The only things that have worked for me are Galantamine/Choline and vitamin B6. You can also check out this tutorial:
