      Sort of New

Hey. I'm new to the site and in some senses, to lucid dreaming, but not exactly. The first time I recall being lucid in a dream was- I believe- in middle school or the first few years of high school. I'm in my mid-20's now. After that first one, it was a long time before I remember having another one. Years.

The first one was the most lucid I've ever been in my dreams. In many dreams, even when lucid, I don't seem to be as logical or clear headed as usual. Sometimes I even have what I call, dream logic (not exactly the most realistic), but I am aware I am in a dream. Sometimes it occurs to me to take control, but at times I seem only partially in control. That first time, though, I felt very logical, as though I were thinking as I would while awake, but I must have gotten startled because the dream ended soon after realization.

I have never intentionally had a lucid dream. They just happen occasionally. Although I've never intentionally had one, once when I woke from a dream, I didn't get out of bed and just started surfacing from sleep (can't recall if I woke up completely, but I was realizing I was waking from a dream) and I went back to sleep not wanting to leave the dream. When I went back to sleep, I was aware it was a dream and tried controlling certain aspects of it.

So, I'm not adept at inducing these dreams in myself and the one experience of falling back asleep thinking of the dream was the closest I've been to willing one. I wasn't trying to have an lucid dream. I was simply trying to return to the dream, and doing so gave me some lucidity. I think that was also the only time I've been able to choose to slip back into a dream, but I'm not sure. I only get lucid dreams occasionally, and I still need to work on controlling them when I do get them. Yet, the first one happened years ago. So, I don't know whether to say I'm a newbie or not.

I would like to be able to have a LD in which I was as lucid as I was in the first one I had- the one I messed up by being startled. I'd also like to have an OBE.
