      I want to believe

I want to believe all this lucid dreaming stuff but I just feel like I can't.

I want to have one so badly I just heard about these and they same amazing but something evil in the back of my ming tells me everyone is lying and its impossible.

All I'm really asking for is the basics and I'm not trying to tell you guys your lying but it just REALLY feels that way.

If we are lying then we must be hallucinating, and if we are then I don't wanna stop

I felt much the same way when I first came here. I was researching dreams and learned I can do WHAT? No way. But I was intrigued, so I did research. There is valid science out there supporting lucid dreaming. Look it up on wikipedia if you need that sort of confirmation. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/lucid_dream
-5 points to anyone who razzes me for citing wikipedia it's easy to cite!

The most basic of the basic, is yes you can. The first steps are to keep a dream journal, because there is really little point in having a lucid dream if you can't remember it. You can start getting yourself in the habit of questioning odd things and doing reality checks. Head on over to the tutorials and have a looksee at what you find there.

One more thing, since you want to believe. Can you close your eyes and picture a scene? With you in it, doing something? I'm asking can you daydream. If you can, which I believe you can, then imagine that in "HD" so to speak. Many times clearer, brighter, livelier. That, is the closest I can come to describing it for you. If you can believe you can "daydream in HD" well then, you can believe.

      Edit: Oh yeah

      Thank you so much.

I tried doing this earlier and I was laying on my back and all of a sudden my eyes started moving everywhere really really fast I couldn't explain that.

Oh, and I have ADD is it still possible?

I have all kinds of weirdness about me, and I can. I'd imagine short of having the sort of brain damage which causes you to have no REM sleep, regardless of what's "wrong" with you... no I hate that word wrong, regardless of the characteristics that make you who you are, yes, you still can. Even if you have ADD. Even if you have purple feet!

Thanks for all the help but is my eyes moving around really fast a sign that I was about to Lucid Dream? I couldn't control it at all.

Can't say. What you describe certainly sounds like rapid eye movement. But that happens when you are asleep. Even in a wake induced lucid dream, I've never heard or read of anyone actually experiencing that. They say your real eyes tend to follow your dream eyes and that produces REM. Hate to be negative, but I wouldn't interpret that as a sign of impending lucid dream. But I've been known to be wrong. Lots.

We're lying. We've made up 2,651 dream journals with countless amounts of posts in them about dreams and lucid dreams just to trick you.

You do know lucid dreaming is scientifically accepted with peer-reviewed research, right?

I don't see why it's so unbeleivable to people. It's a DREAM. Cool things happen in dreams without you even doing anything. So that means logically, if you DO do something... Even cooler stuff can happen! n_n

Plus, take a look at Astral Projection, and LDs will seem a LOT more reachable. o.O
What if I told you that I am dreaming right now?
That your whole life is a lie?
That the laws of physics as you know them are incorrect?

Furthermore, what would you do if I told you I'm going to wake up as soon as you finish reading my signature?
