Question How to stay in a dream after gaining luicidity?

Hi, I'm new here and I just recently have started my adventure with LD. I had something about 5 DILDs already, but I have a problem and i need your help. When I become lucid in my dreams I have difficulty to stay in a dream longer then few minutes, I also can't do anything I want, only things somehow connected with my dream. Another problem is, that when I'm lucid my dreams aren't so clear as they are normally and they are slowly fading into reality. Can you guys help me with gaining more control an staying longer in lucid dreams? Are there any exercises I should do, or things I should remember about? Thanks for any help

      First off, welcome to DV!

There are several things you can do to stay in the dream. You can try rubbing your hands together, or spin your body around its own axis. Both of these techniques are also commonly used to increase vividness of the dream. You can also try to focus on and touch an object to stabilize the dream.

If you feel excited when gaining lucidity, then that might be the reason why you wake up soon. In that case, relaxing your mind is a good way to keep the dream stable, along with the other techniques I mentioned. You might also be waking yourself up by trying too hard on the dream manipulation. Controlling a dream is something that often takes practice. I do believe there are a few dream control tutorials in the tutorials section.

      I hope that helps some!

In your first couple of lucid dreams your brain tends to panic. It doesn't recognize your new-found state of consciousness and decides to wake you up. That will pass.

What I usually do when I notice a dream ending is let it end and then do what's called a DEILD. There is a tutorial about it in the Tutorials database. Basically you wake up, don't move, and then reenter the dream state consciously. This prevents your mind from panicking and allows you to have much longer and better dreams.

      Oh and to DV!
