      Interested in learning

      Hi all,

I've come to Dream Views as i'm really interested in learning the ability to control my dreams. Theres a little story behind this, i've recently started to play an instrument i used to play as a teen. The drums to be more specific, and i was watching an instructional video in which the teacher was mentioning tips for practise when your not at your drums set. Things like tapping your feet while you sit at your desk to build your skin muscles up, and visualising playing to song on the radio. One thing he mentioned was that he tried to practise while dreaming. He figured that if he was asleep 8 hours a day he might as will use it.

From what i've read so far, this is a distinct posibility. So here i am, i've read a little bit of the site and i'm hopeing to learn a lot for the purpose (mainly) of practising my instrument. Does anyone want to comment on the validity of this idea? Any advice on getting started? I've not read through all of the site yet, but i'm getting there.

Looking forward to posting in the future.

Hi Welcome to DV In your lucid dreams you can pretty much do anything from playing a musical instrument, breaking mountains with your fists and lots of other cool things, only your mind restricts you.
Remember Lucidity takes time and patience.. Good luck

Quite a few people here use dreaming for creative purposes so drumming in dreams would work just fine. to DV.

Ha, yeah i guess my usual sig doesn't really apply to lucid dreams! Ok first drumming, then combating ninjas on fire, that would be pretty cool.

I'm quite happy to take the time to learn, pretty sure i know how to start. Dream recall, dreamsigns and critical state checking. Not sure how my other half will like the idea of me jotting stuff down in the middle of the night.

Does anyone know if you can get a pen with a light on it!?

I used to have a light up pen. Now I just use a small flashlight. Maybe waking your lady up in the middle of the night will cause her to have more memorable dreams, too.

I'm interested to hear how your drumming goes.

Oh i'm sure it will, but will probably make her cranky that i woke her up alsp!?

I'd be interested if i can utilise this erm......ability (i'm going to call it ability it makes sense to me) to actually help with practise. Its an interesting idea.

I have started practising normally however, so it won't be my sole outlet for practise. Are you a drummer?

I will appluad your level self control if you manage to practice drumming instead of throwing hammers at the savage mushroom mutants on venus.

Actually there are some creative ways you can get practice in, rather than setting yourself infront of a set. In a sense, it feels like you can be more self aware in a dream, hope it works out
