Alternatives for waking up during REM sleep?

Like most people, I am not all too much into the whole waking up using an alarm clock thing (I sleep naturally, meaning whenever I wake up, I wake up) and I have tried drinking tons of water before bed, but all what happens is I can't sleep until I end up going to the bathroom which always happens within half an hour. Ideas anyone?

Before you go to sleep say something out loud to yourself such as...."I will wake up after every dream" or something along those longs. Subconsciously your body will remember this even when you are sleeping and you will hopefully do what you have said before you fell asleep. Always has worked for me, goodluck.

I agree with P1nhead, that the best way is to learn to wake up naturally. Set your intention to wake up after every dream. Your body naturally has a breif awakening after any REM cycle anyways. All you have to do is get in the habit of noticing it and taking advantage of it.

I'll put my vote along side autosuggestion with everyone else. It really does work.

i just tried autosuggestion. ive been trying this for longer to get a DILD or somthin, but it NEVER worked... but now i told myself "i will notice the end of my dream and wake up..." and damn it WOOORKED ^^. i have woken up 5 times or even more that night/morning and i recalled 3 dreams . i usually just recall ONE or even just little pieces of that one dream... soooo autosuggestion REALLY works. i was always sceptical, but kept trying and now the whole work worked out for me ^^
