      My Intro =]]

Hey everyone, I'm, well, I guess I'm batman. I've never used this nick before, but meh, Batman pwns.

I'm pretty new to LD'ing. I started reading EWLD about maybe a month ago. I started the whole dream journal thing and all that good stuff. Since then I've had good recall and can always remember at least one, if not more dream per night.

I've had one mid level WBTB DILD, and two WBTB LD's that just seemed to randomly happen although they were horribly low level (they were my first though).

I just read about WILD's in EWLD a few nights ago (the night of my first LD's), and in that general section I found a great method that gets me to sleep. I try to do a WILD every night for now on, but I mess something up and fall to sleep. I'm going to try a MILD/WILD combination. Every time I breath in, I'm going to think, "I'm going to lucid dream tonight", and every time I breath out I think, "I'm dreaming". While I breath I always try to pay attention, and I get to the hypnagognic images and auditory. What seems to happen is that I usually forget the audio a few seconds later. Is that normal, or should I be remembering it better? (Same goes for imagery).

I just stumbled across the VILD, which might help. But anyways besides LD'ing, I'm a computer enthusiast. I like learning new (programming) languages. I'm currently fairly apt at Java and C++. I've tried Ruby before and loved it, although I haven't programmed since *_* (School keeps me busy =]]).

Besides computers, I like actual language arts. I do know English as my native, and as a junior in high school I'm in my fifth year of French and third year of Latin. I have a whole list of languages I want to learn. Greek, Arabic, Manderine Chinese, Japanese, Italian (should be too hard if I know French and Latin, lol), Spanish, German...(Those are placed in the order I wish to learn them).

This was a hugely long post, and I apologize for it, but it is an intro, so deal with it =]]

That is awesome that EWOLD has helped you achive some LDs! It is really normal for the first few LDs to be kind of vague or not very clear-minded.

It is okay to pay little or no attention to the sounds and sights (and feelings, smells, etc) or SP/HI. Although it can be interesting, it isn't that important. The goal is to get through it into a LD!

      Thanks for the welcome!

Also thanks for answering my question which was in the middle of a really long post. hehe.

I'm super excited about all this and I just read a great tutorial on VILD which sounds really promising. But who knows.

And I really hope I SP sometime, just to know what it feels like.

      Welcome, Batman

One thing that I missed in Laberge's book, is the importance of doing a WILD after a Wake Back To Bed. Wake up for a few minutes in the middle of the night after 4-6 hours of sleep, and then return to bed to do your WILD. It is very difficult to WILD when you first go to sleep.

Also, your Wake Back To Bed can be anywhere from one minute to one hour, depending on how easily you fall back to sleep. If you are falling asleep during your WILD, try staying up for longer during your WBTB, and maybe eat a snack. If you are lying in bed awake for an hour or more, try only waking up for a few minutes.

Also, the timing of your WBTB is critical. Experiment by moving it around to different times during the night. The idea is to catch a REM cycle in the early morning.
