Do Colds/seasonal allergies have blunting affect on Dreams?

Hey guys. I have a pretty bad cold mixed with some seasonal allergy symptoms. It's been hard to recall dreams. I just feel a tad bit scatter-brained when I wake up in the morning. Do colds, flu and allergies have a blunting affect on Dreaming? Do they enhance them?

      Any thoughts would be great

Hi, Welcome to DV! What I noticed when I had the flu was alot more dreams, more vivid dreams, and more clear dreams. But I hear that the opposite is, understandibly, true with others. If you see for yourself after about a week, I think you'lll know. Good luck, and I hope this helps!

Yes, you sleep deeper and take in less oxygen so your dreams will suffer. However, if you take medicine for them, sometimes you can get some crazy dream. Especially with NyQui

I am REALLY allergic to cats, and we've had four cats in my house for about 6 years now. My recall is still about 5-6 dreams per night.
Over the past summer we were taking care of two other cats before we could find them a new home, and I was having on average about 2 lucids per week.

I find that being ill or being plagued by allergies causes me to spend more time sleeping when possible. Now that I'm at school and I'm not around any allergens whatsoever, my recall is about the same. I don't think it hurts your dreaming at all, probably you've just gotta keep up a steady dream journal and you will be fine. I know what you mean about being foggy and groggy in the morning, but that actually causes me to sit around in the morning a bit longer, which helps me sit around remembering dreams.

I take claritin-d (24 hour) for my allergies before bed, if that's any help.
