Red face First time to a dream forum - pleased to meet you all

      Hiya,

I'm 24, and have seen a dramatic resurgance in my dreams since my late teens. I used to have some very scary nightmares (at age 19, some of the themes were death, dismemberment etc. of myself) which would terrify me initially. However, by the time I was around 21, I had begun to realize in some aspect or other that I was dreaming and could not die in the dreams, which made the nightmares more tolerable, even if they did not stop.

Nowadays, my dreams are a lot more 'pleasant' - that is to say, they use more everyday conflicts (the occasional angry wild animal, or reflections back to high school, or religious images) as themes. I read some of the posts here on lucid dreaming with great interest - I definately would like to work at acheiving completely lucid dreams. Like I mentioned initially, I have had moments of clarity in dreams before that I was dreaming, but never - I think - within the whole dream, and certainly not enough to willingly direct where I was going.

And... one more thing... these days it seems when I am scared in dreams, yet know that I am dreaming - I have lost the ability to fly. I just jump up and fall down. Another reason why I want to LD (I'd very much like to fly again )

Anyway, looking forward to meeting you all on the forum and thanks for taking the time to read this.

I too am new to the LD forums. Im 27 and have had LDs since i was very small. I tend to have one dreams that always returns of me falling for the entire dream and then when i hit i wake up.

Gonna try some meditating and music tonight. I know when i set myself up for lucid dreams they tend to be quite vivid. One night i tried listening to some monestarian monk chant and ended up with quite an evil nightmare. Its quite interesting to me to think how music tends to control my dreams.

Yikes! Poor you! (with the monestrian monk chant). Though I can imagine myself getting nightmares with that music too. Not that it's meant in that way - but the images monestrian monk chants conjure up in my waking mind are sinister enough to definately scare me into dreams

I think that's because there's a real sense of being comfortable with being alone in those chants. Comfortable with the sound of your own voice. And i'm not
