      Autosuggestion Problems...

Hey. I read about autosuggestion here to wake up after dreams and remember them, and I was a bit skeptical. So last night I told myself I was going to wake up after dreams and remember the details, and kept repeating it to myself until I actually believed it. Then in the morning around 5-6 i just woke up in bed, for no reason at all. It wasn't the normal drowsy awakening, I just became completely conscious out of nowhere. However, when I tried remembering my dream, all I could remember was black... so I just gave up and went back to sleep since I was tired. I was under the impression I'd come out of the dream remembering it completely. Does it normally take time to remember the dream, or am I just not doing it right?

      Welcome to Dream Views BaKo!

I'm not very familiar with Auto Suggestion, but I would assume that you did it right.

Every night when you go to sleep, you dream, regardless of if you remember those dreams or not. So I would believe that it is very much possible that you did have a dream, but your Dream Recall wasn't good enough to remember the dream upon awakening.

If you'd like to have better Dream Recall, you can simply keep a Dream Journal.

A DJ (Dream Journal) is pretty self explainatory. You write down any dreams that you can remember into a journal. They don't have to be the entire dream, as you probably would start to forget things as you try to write down the entire thing.

I would suggest just writing down the important things like what was around you, if it was night or day, and maybe some key words. Little things like that should help you remember most of, if not all, the dream.

Dream Views does have a Dream Journal Section you can check out and read about other people's dreams. I hope this helps! Good luck Luciding!

      Hi BaKo.

I've been keeping a dream journal for a few weeks. I finding the exact same thing myself. I wake up, sitting in the dark wondering whats going on. I can see how it would be easy to forget the dream, as I get the feeling I almost do to.

But generally I do realise that I must've woken up from a dream, and then remember my dream. Often this is in bits and pieces, and most often I remember the last thing I dreamt about and have to work backwards.

Sometimes its easier than others. The funny things is, when I'm lying there trying to put it together, I've occasionaly remembered dreams I know I had weeks or months ago, which just leapt into my head! I note these in my DJ too.

Anyhow, sounds like your soooooooo close. Don't give up.

Here the thing which i think people don't understand too well.

      Don't "Tell" yourself.

      Ask yourself.

Ask your sub conscious to help you remember your dreams.

      Direct the question to him/her.

That should help you to some extent. Speicaly if your the type of person who doesn't like to be told to do something by othre people, asking would work better.

Because who do you thinking your telling / asking to help you remember dreams? God, the pope... nope its your SC....
