Unique situation woke up from accident things are not the same

Hi I am new to this but here goes.

      1) Brief description
I have always experienced real-life dreams. They help me predict outcomes to scenarios and seem very logical and instinctual. I have always treated as a gift or a 6th sense, nothing more.

      2) I have in a 10 hour sleep period gone to work every day for a week and wake up feeling its the next week, get deja vu as the predictability occurs, etc.

      3) I do not proclaim to be psychic, but often experience strange revealing dreams of things to come.

      Something has changed recently

      1) I was in a car accident where I was knocked out. (contusion & concussion)
      2) I have suffered minor neurological damage, that has slowed me down, made it harder to talk, think, make judgement calls, eyesight problems in my right eye, changes in taste(tomatoes taste like rotten meat), vertigo etc.
      3) I even "look and sound" different to family and friends

Since then I randomly have split dreams. I am in two places at once, and sometimes my right side dreams occur while I am awake walking around. I do not want to sound like I am crazy and am fearful to talk to anyone like a doctor about this. I have been getting treated differently since this accident and was accused of being under the influence of drugs due to dilated pupils and not talking clearly. the subsequent toxic/unrine screen that I passed delayed my treatment two days.

It is almost as if things ar visualized and superimposed photographically over realaity in flashes, sounds, ears ring weird stuff.
I lost my job upon return from medical leave, almost as if this is still a bad dream. I am starting to almost think I am in a coma or something. Reality does not seem real, but I have accepted these changes.

Who can I see for help without being thought of a crazy or insane?

Sounds like you should talk to a neurologist, really.

Yeah, you should deffinitely seek help from someone...not because what your saying is crazy, it's not by any means, but it's the right way to go. They know what to do.

When it comes to these forums, you'd best talk to people in the "Beyond Dreaming" section, this seems to fit perfectly there.

For now though, welcome to Dream Views, and I hope you learn some things while your here.

Thank you everybody sofar for the welcome and advice.

I wanted to see a neurologist and get an MRI but the place that I go did not say an MRI was justified. My neurologist appt is scheduled for 2/3/2009 without any way to get sooner or still get an MRI.

I have been demanding treatment, have an accident report with diagnosis from ER, was rear-ended at red light est 40 MPH hit while I was stopped.

They have not been taking me seriously. I feel that my communication with my work while I was out was weird, seeing that I noticed I was being treated differently. I think this is why they decided to term. me (the way I sounded to them, I think they thought I was a liability)

I was on FMLA leave, the day I returned I was terminated for "previous poor performance" coincidentally the week before the accident.

My company sucks, & I was not happy anyways.
Try to interview for a new job when you sound intoxicated 1/2 the time when you talk.
I am still able to think and solve problems. I seem to be doing more with my left hand instinctively. I am or "was" right handed, It is weird.
Typing on the computer was weird, it is like I had to do it slowly at first and now i am faster and more accurate then ever.

These dreams are weird and continue like I said sometimes I can sort of see them still going with my right eye.

This is a nightmare in itself. I am lost and am having trouble coping with some of these new feelings and the types of dreams I am having are very frightful.

Thanks again and I will try out the other forums.

I'm sorry to hear things are not going well. How long has it been since the accident? I hope this is just a temporary thing.

It definitely sounds like something got knocked around in your head. I think it is a very good sign that you are aware of the changes and are serious about getting treatment and working through them. I have known a few people who had bad concussions, and they described some wacky changes.

I've had dreams where my consciousness is split into two places before. It is a strange feeling. This is pretty common for people who lucid dream. Many times, you will be aware of your body lying in bed while still experiencing the dream around you and a dream body. Sort of an out of body type of thing. Try searching around for "sleep paralysis" and "hypnagogia." Some of the distortions people experience during SP may be similar to what you are describing. You say you get something similar when you are awake?

Sorry to hear about your accident. My brother had a bad accident many years back and had some brain damage as well. I understand what you mean when people say you sound and act different, since my brother did too - he had terrible balance and slurred speech after his accident. Thankfully he made a complete recovery, although it did take a while. Please make sure you talk to your doctor about your concerns and get treatment. No decent doctor is going to think you're crazy. The brain takes time to heal - not just months, but years.
A fantastic book about the brain and healing is "My stroke of insight" by Jill Bolte Taylor. She talks about the importance of sleep and dreams in healing the brain after trauma. She also gives examples of activities to do to improve your brain functioning. It's written quite simply and is an easy read too, if you find your reading and/or comprehension skills aren't as good as they used to be.

Any legitimate doctor, especially a neurologist, is not going to think that you are crazy but is going to understand how these problems are a result of your accident and hopefully provide advice and help for you in these awful stereotypes and assumptions, especially at your workplace. Go to one asap is my advice, so they can help figure out what has happened and what they can do to help you.

I agree with the above poster. It's better to be safe than sorry. I can't stand when doctors think they know more about your body than you do yourself. It sounds to me like you may have developed temporal lobe epilepsy from your accident. Didn't they at least do an EEG? Good grief...
