      coast to coast

hi, im a 40 year old male. i was tuned into coast to coast on an am station late friday night while driving just because it was the only station that i could pick up. they were talking about lucid dreams. ive never heard the term but i have always had pretty vivid dreams and can tell if im in a dream or not. i just thought that's how everyone dreams. it is usually just oh, im in a dream and just sort of fall out of it. a couple of times i remember trying to bring things back from dreams like a can or a coin just to see if i can but knowing that i really cant??? anyway, i did the search engine, found your site and here i am. i had 3 dreams last night, the 3rd one i was jogging with my jacket and tie on down a side walk i was going really fast and it wasnt hard which is not like me at all. then me and an older lady ran across the street she said look out for the cars and i said look out for that spider which was maybe 12" big. then i thought oh yeah, a dream and tried to pinch my nose but i sort of woke myself up, then i tried to go back to the dream which i did and picked up my gym bag and it meowed which i knew it must be a dream again i pinched my nose and took a breath but woke up and felt really tingley on my head and right arm. i know this is too long to read but suggestions on how to stay in dream longer would be nice. also im really-really tired today is that normal when trying to do this??? thanks.....

Awesome that you heard about lucid dreaming (LDing) on the radio! You've come to the right place to learn more about LDing.

It is pretty normal when first working to LD to wake up from the dream frequently. I suggest staying calm and just looking around when you first realize it is a dream. If doing the nose-pinch reality check (RC) seems to wake you up try a different one.

Sometimes working hard at LDing can caues you to wake up a lot or to sleep less than you normally would, and this can make you tired. Also, sometimes just focusing so much all night can cause a tired feeling.

Just some friendly advice -- most people are too lazy to read a big block of text, so try to break up your posts with some blank lines. That will really help you to get more replies!
