      Talking seeking....

Hi everyone, I am so happy that I found this forum.
The thing is that I used to be a Lucid dreamer years ago, and just recently I decided to awaken my lost ability for lucid dreaming. I am not so good with the terminology and abbreviations that are being used on this forum (for example: what is a WILD?) But I used to be so good not only in Lucid dreaming but in Dream control as well. In fact, for me it was just the same thing: as soon as I became aware that I am in a dream - I could control my dream, I could do anything, change the scenery, change or create the people and characters in my dream.... fly, run... whatever... there were not any limits in my dreams.... It was amazing, and fun and realy enjoyable... there was not any bad aspect in it at all..
Then something happened... I got scared ... and I stopped the lucid dreaming. and I have never tried it again.
Years passed. I have had a very happy life and I still do... but something happened in my real life that made me go back to look for some answers. Trying to find my answers I was guided to the lucid dreaming again. But I have discovered that I have lost my ability ...and I could not do it again . So I read some things on this web site, and amazing things started to happen... For example, one night I read some advice on how to start lucid dreaming.. and the very same night in my dream I tried to apply that method. It was amaizing that I could remeber that stuff in my dream and try it... (so I would say it was lucid, wasn't it?) however, without ability to control the dream it is not even close to what I am trying to achieve.
Also, just a few days after reading about dream signs, I had this dream: I am in my kitchen and I look at my watch and see that the numbers look very strange. In the same instant I think: this must be a dream, this is a dream sign. So I say:lets change the dream. And I try to change the scenery, but I could not do it, I stayed in the kitchen wondering why it is not working...In the dream, I am still aware that it is a dream and that I should be able to control it, but somehow I do not know how....
I know that eventualy I will be able to do it again, but I would appreciate some help ... it seems you know a lot about this and the info I found here has already helped me a lot...
and what about this Adoption program?
Looking forward to your answers... and may you all have wonderful dreams and fly high.... With love and magic....
      Sanjar
p.s. and if I have learned anything from my expirience so far, then it is that dreams are NOT JUST DREAMS.... there is so much more to it

Sorry no one replied before this!
I'm happy to answer all of your questions.

You can find a list of acronyms here. It has pretty much all of the various abreviations we use.

It is really cool (and unusual) that you could control your dreams so well in the past. Usually dream control comes over time. I suggest in your next lucid dream to take a few minutes to simply look around and notice how vivid it is. The longer you look and the more attention you give to the dream world the more vivid it will become. After this you can try some stuff. If you want to look deeper into the nature of dream control I suggest reading at least the first few pages of this post.

The Adoption program is a volunteer program where more experienced lucid dreamers "adopt" less experienced dreamers to give them advice, assignments, and extra help. Sometimes one member who excells at one aspect of lucid dreaming will adopt someone who needs help with just that area. How it works really depends on who adopts you and their particular methods.

From reading in your post how quickly your dreaming mind responds to thoughts and focus on lucid dreaming, I suspect that you will advance toward your goal of lucidity with dream control quickly!

If you have any questions feel free to post them or to send me or another member of the Dream Guide Team a PM.

      Thanks for your reply.
I read the post you recommended.... & what to say? it is very interesting... but in some aspects also very confusing... I'll go back to that post and read it again... however, my impression is that the answers we all are looking for are in fact much less complicated. But then again, we are all so different and that is our beauty too.
Back to the dream world ... I do feel that there is so much to explore and to learn , (although some of us enjoy fighting the dragons too...)
For me, dreams are not separate world from our "reality", they are the part of who I am and I often look for the answers, help or comfort - in my dreams. And I did it for many years even without the all magnificent possibilities that Lucid Dreaming is offering. I am now trying to get in touch with my lost ability for LD because I now feel that I will be able to handle it well. I used to have the ability for LD and I did not know what is it, it just came to me in one point in my life, but probably to much to soon... I was very young at the time.. But I could sense the possibilities and I felt that I was not ready for it... Now I am simply being guided back to it. I found this web site, and a lot of very usefull information here.... It seems to me that people on this forum do have a lot of knowledge of LD, but somehow there is something missing... is it all just for fun? I mean, the fun is fun, but is that all? For example, did you ever tried in LD to talk to yourself or to ask yourself for advice or for the solution of some problem...? I suspect that there is a ... (something....) that we can access through the lucid dreams. And that it can be used to enrich our lives... and ourselves. Or at least those are my reasons for regaining the ability for LD.
and for all Lucid Dreamers on this forum.... fly high & and see you there...

You're lucky that you have a history of lucid dreaming that you can use as a foundation to build upon. I bet it will all come back quickly.

I agree that there is a lot we can learn from lucid dreams. Even just the feeling of being lucid and experiencing such an amazing altered state of consciousness is eye opening. That is without even considering any of the actual dream content. Even silly or seemingly superficial lucid goals can help to free our minds and realize the illusory neature of our realities. The Tibetans believe that one of the main goals of dream yoga is learning to overcome our own karmic traces. Whether this is by conquoring our nightmares, transforming ourselves and our environments, or interacting with ourselves through our dream characters. That dream about battling zombies can be a powerful experience if you have a fear of death, and realize you are the one creating the monsters in the first place.

I think that most people's minds work in metaphors and models. A lucid dream does not have to be directly and overtly spiritual to have meaning. I like to relate it to religious teachings. Deep and complicated meanings are often conveyed through parables that are structured with characters, conflict, and plot. Not many people want to sit and read a boring dissertation about philosophy. If this same philosophy is integrated into a storyline, it will be more enjoyable and easier to understand for more people.

I know that personally, I have a lot of fun in both my real life and my dreams. Even when I am wrestling with some deep or upsetting questions, I still try to use fun and lighthearted models to try and figure out the answers. The key is learning to understand and interpret your dreams (and thoughts in general) beyond the superficial level.

Welcome, Sanjar!! As they have said already, you are pretty lucky to have this base to build upon!
I think that may actual be hindering you, however. Dream control for me is usually a matter of confidence, and it sounds like you are still a bit unsure of your ability to get back into lucid dreaming and controlling your dreams. My advice is just to remember those old dreams that you had, and how good your control was, and to continue using the techniques and advice you pick up from dreamviews. The ability is there, you just have to remember that your dreams are just dreams, and use the knowledge of the fact that you are lucid, and in a dream, and in control of everything, to help build your confidence

In my last dream I am screaming:" This is just a dream! I know that I am in my bed at this moment. This is just a dream! This is not real! I can change this dream to prove it!"
      And the dream scenery changes....
But believe me, I was just dreaming about being lucid and having the control in my dream. Again.
But would you say - that I am getting there....?
My method is: I just say to myself that I am going to have a LD.
I didn't have one yet, but some strange things are happening... and I quite enjoy that... I ask some questions before I go to sleep- and I do get the answers in my dreams. Although, these are not LDs it is still very interesting... By the way, are there some other kinds of dreams...and what they are?
      any recommended readings?

Sounds like you are just using autosuggestion. May want to go to these areas: http://www.dreamviews.com/community/...ad.php?t=36723 http://www.dreamviews.com/community/...splay.php?f=75 http://www.dreamviews.com/community/...splay.php?f=12

http://www.dreamviews.com/community/...ad.php?t=47941 Try this thread for books

Other types of dreams? I'm not sure there are. The guys over in Beyond Dreaming interpret dreams as a lot of different things, so you could go look over there and see for yourself!

thanks. there is a lot to read, isn't it?
I read through some of the tutorials... It seems to me that DEILD would be the right one for me. I am going to try that one.
Hypnagogic also sounds very familiar... I still get some amaizing visions before getting asleep...I may use them to get into LD. It is just that I enjoy the imagery so much that I let myself to be taken to the dreams without realizing it.
      Thanks. Good dreams
