      Exclamation Odd meditation

Hey guys, my name's joe and im new to this forum.
ive been following the ideas of lucid dreaming and astral travel for some time now but have only recently committed myself to attaining both states.
a few nights ago i had my first lucid experience, but i was so shocked as to how real it was that i quickly woke up.
just a few minutes ago i was do a meditation where i lie down and focus on my breathing to relax, i had been in a very relaxed state for quite some time when i suddenly felt this powerful electric energy, and my hyagnogic imagery went nuts, it was rapidly flashing white and i felt this pulsing, my heart rate even sped up. it was absolutely incredible and was definetaly the greatest amount of energy ive ever felt, in fact i would almost describe it to being akin to the feeling one experiences when they realize theyre dreaming.
has anyone else experienced anything like this?

      Joe

I know exactly the feeling you are referring to. It is very common, and nothing to be scared of. That being said, it is an incredible and intense experience.

Many people experience these energy rushes, or vibrations, or waves of shock while doing WILD or OBE type meditations. Holding your awareness while your brain disconnects from you body can make some crazy hallucinations happen. Try searching around for Hypnagogic Hallucinations, or Hypnagogia in general. It is what your body naturally does every time you pass into a sleeping state. Normally you are just not aware of it because you have already lost consciousness.

Personally, I always get several intense rushes of vibrations that seem to travel up my body. They come in waves, and I can change the intensity of the feeling by focusing on the feeling. I also notice a change in my heartbeat and breathing, and sometimes a pressure on my chest. Common hallucinations for me, are clear voices and conversations coming from nowhere, and severe body distortions. This can also be accompanied by sleep paralysis, where you are unable to move.

Even without the lucid dream, it is a mind blowing altered state of consciousness on par with a drug induced trip. Keep an open mind, and try to enjoy the WILD ride. It is safe, natural, and totally free You are exploring an exciting state of consciousness that humans have been trying to induce for thousands of years.

Yeah, I hear the weirdest stuff, but it normally makes sense. I recently heard a TV commercial, clear as day, even though I haven't owned a TV in years. It can be spooky when someone is talking directly to you, calling your name, even though you know there is no one there. I've heard that other people hear random noises like metallic screeches, music, or loud crashes. I guess, like dreaming, anything goes when your mind starts generating its own content.

I also want to mention that, if you reach this state, you are just a hair away from entering a lucid dream or OOBE. All you have to do is leave your body or enter a dreamscape.
