You know, I think I had an unintentional episode similar to that once. I was laying in bed going to sleep, and a part of my mind was active but I couldn't get my body to move. I didn't lucid dream though because it scared the hell out of me and I basically flooded my mind forcing myself awake. I didn't know what it was at the time |

What you describe is classic sleep paralysis (SP) and hypnagogic hallucinations (HH). The sensation of the vibrating legs and paralyized arms was SP. SP can also feel like falling, hot or cold, rocking, etc. The horizon and your friend's head was HH. HH is what happens as a dream starts to form right before you are completely asleep. So you were really close to a successful WILD. |

You were very close. You may have also suffered a false awakening, where you dream that you wake up. That happens a lot with WILDs. But yeah, all that stuff is supposed to happen, after a while it stops being scary and is fun. Check out the tutorial section for more on WILDs. |
