      Smile Hello.

I believe I should introduce myself. I am Ragamuffin. (Nice to meet you.) I enjoy music and creamy creamy cheese. I am a proud Aries. But I am really here to ask a serious question-

How many people here believe that your dreams have meanings? I am open to people who think that way, but I personally am a bit hesitant to assign meaning to my dreams. I mean, some of my dreams are so random and messed up that it's hard to me to believe that they mean something. And a lot of what I hear is that dreaming is just our brain's way of defragging information for humans. So I don't know what to believe. Any and all help understanding this would be greatly appreciated.

      Hey

I believe that everything you see means something. Most of the stuff is just out of our league and we don't understand it . Subconscious mind shows us our real feelings/needs/thoughts in its own way and you might not even be aware of them. For example my friend told me that she dreamed about smashing her friend's apartment. She remembered she was furious in her dream. Later that day girl realized that although she gets along with friend, she actually hates him little. Might be confusing, but makes perfect sense to me .
Anyway that's just what I believe.

Yeah, I don't understand a lot of things. XP That's why I'm here, though. Hmm. Interesting. So our conscious mind will be the rational part of our minds. The part we use to deal with everyday life and things we need. But our subconscious mind will tell us what we want and things and feelings that we could be ignoring/suppressing/skeptical of. And this can manifest itself in dreams. Am I getting the right idea?

I believe that your dreams can have symbolic meanings based on your schemata and the metaphors and analogies that you sort of subconsciously assign to things. But I think that the majority of our dreams are just a whole bunch of randomness and insanity that get influenced by the way you react to the dream (and unless you are lucid, these are usually random and insane reactions). Since I think your dreams are so reflective of one's personal experiences, beliefs, memories, etc., I don't think that there can be a generic interpretation of any one dream, because it can mean very different things for different people- unless you are talking about generic beliefs.

For instance, I once had a dream that I needed to use the bathroom, but that someone was in the stall. When I finally went in I was grossed out, and up against the wall was a huge Mr. Clean poster, just like the logo. People could probably say that that represents something stupid, like my desire to clean the environment of the pollution of others or some such bullshit, and I know that it was just me reacting in the way I do every time I walk into the bathrooms in the dorm: "Omg this place is so disgusting, I wish I had some bleach!"

As for any sort of spiritual or whatever message? Nah. I think that's a bunch of crazy talk. Only crazy people think crazy dreams make sense

Yes dreams have meaning - I control what I dream by sleep programming -
this means I "make a wish" (yeah -like a kid) then go to sleep - what I
wished for appears in my dream that night.

no more "random dreams" - I get what I ask for. I found out that everyone
can actually do this - you can say out loud :
"I WISH TO KNOW THE TRUTH: WHAT IS MATHEMATICS?"

Then go to sleep - your dream tonight will be about math!

      Interesting, no?
