Am I sick & twisted for dreaming this?

I've been having really wierd dreams lately, but most involve an ex-boyfriend that died recently and I can understand them (or my emotions that triggered them at least). But I woke up a few hours ago to a very chilling dream that I can't believe entered my subconscious. It's actually beginning to worry me so much that I'm scared to go back to sleep. But here it is:

One of my best friends has a 19-month old. She's bright and I consider her my niece- I absolutely love this little girl! In my dream, the little girl, we'll call her "Sally", had been lost for about half of a year. No one had any leads and everyone was starting to get extremely worried. One day, my friend, my mom, myself, and other people I couldn't identify decided to go on a trip to "get away". Well, we begin to rearrange seats in my mom's car in order to accommodate everyone. As we did so, we found Sally's remains. She had been squished somehow. It was somewhat graphic but not true to how such an incident would be in reality. There were just a few remains- mainly eyes, hair, and flesh stuck to the seat. Cassie didn't see it, so I asked for one of the unknown people to take her away while we cleaned it up (why wouldn't I tell my friend that we found her dead body?!) My friend then became very physically sick (although I remember thinking that it was because of her emotional distress). She later became inconsolable. We did find something that could help her. She started out in the fetal position, but soon that did not work. She was only able to stop crying if she acted as if she were in labor (like reinacting her only child's birth). I had to grab one of her legs and she had to constantly act like she was pushing. Nothing graphic about this- she wasn't nude or anything like that. That's when I woke up.

I don't know why I would be having a dream like this. I'm not a violent person, and I usually tell the truth. I remember thinking that I may have been the one to unknowingly squish Sally, but was not for sure.

I wonder why it would come out in my dream that I accidently killed one of my most loved ones...? I'm so confused and cannot sleep. If anyone can help, please do! Feel free to ask me any questions regarding my circumstances as well. I am truly creeped out by this and need to get to the bottom of it!

      Welcome to Dreamviews!

It is unfortunatly common to dream about loosing those who are closest and most precious to us. It is also very common to have dreams about death and the things that distrub us the most. There are a lot of theories out there on why people dream and why we dream about the things we do. In all likelyhood, there are probably several reasons for why we dream and why we have certain dreams. To prepare us for danger or emotional stress, to explore hidden fears or desires, to make the vital connections between old and new information that allow our memory to work, etc.

Take comfort in knowing that this was only a dream, even distrubing as it was. It is very normal to have disturbing dreams from time to time, espcially in the teen and early adulthood years. You should know that because this dream upset you so much and you have spent so much time worrying about it, you may have more upsetting dreams. If that happens, just realize that is your brain's way of dealing with your emotional reaction.

Really you only need to worry if you can't get any decent sleep because of this dream or if you start to have other problems you think are related to it. If that happens go see a doctor.

      Good luck!

Don't worry, when it comes down to it, we are all sick and twisted

Remember that dreams are not necessarily things you secretly want to come true. They are often your worst fears or anxieties come to life. Add to that your mind's natural reliance on metaphor, and you get some wacky and frightening scenarios.

No need to ever feel guilty about disturbing dreams. Disturbed, of course, but never guilty.

      ^ exactly what he said.

What's more disturbing is dreams where you are killing people That is some freaky stuff right there, and not until you wake up and realize what was happening
