      Newbie saying hi!

So glad i found this community! when i was a kid, i thought i was the only one who could do this.

it first started when i was 5. i had a dream where i was riding a tricycle in my daycares outside sidewalk with other kids. for some reason i came to realize i was in a dream. i turned and started to figure it out with my dream friend.

Me: "You know you are in my dream right now right?"
      Dream friend: "Really? thats cool"

      then i woke up

since then i've had lucid dreams every now and again. since around highschool though, i've completely gone backwards. i thought i wasnt dreaming but i guess i just wasnt remembering at all that i was dreaming. just recently i started to focus and sure enough i'm remembering 1-3 dreams per night.

i have started a dream journal and i'm starting to remember my dreams (they are pretty weird). i cant go lucid yet though.

something i do have is extreme focus. i always know whether i am dreaming or not. it comes really easy for me. also, when i start to wake, i realize it and if i focus, i can flow back into the dream land. sometimes its only for a little bit because my body is waking and sometimes i fully fall back but the point is i can get there.

what should i really focus on from here? i want to be able to fully control and enjoy my dreams.

also i want to know if dreams mean anything? who are these random people i have never seen before? why do some dreams feel prophetic like something is going to happen and its a warning?

about your dream characters, they can mean a lot of things. what i know is that these random ppl youre saying you never saw before, you actually did before at some point in your life, be it on TV, on the streets, cinema whatever, you just dont remember. so i dont think u should worry about it

      thanks.

ya maybe its just because i'm more of a calm collective person but i really focus hard and concentrate on stuff that doesnt make sense. like when i wake up, i just focus really hard on my eyes opening and they do.

focus is the key for entering and leaving state i've found out but as far as gaining lucidity... i cant figure it out :/

      Welcome to DV
Far from being unusual, do you know that about 60% of kids have had a lucid dream (can't recall where I saw that stat)

Your story is very similar to mine .. I was a bit of a natural, and even today I often become lucid if something attacks me in my dream (doesn't happen much though)
And, like you, I started losing the frequency of lucid dreams - causing me to have to train it again.

Since you experience so many dream characters, why not use them to answer your questions? They're an interesting way of experiencing your dream.
Simply go up to one of them, ask them who they are, why are they there, etc

Often they'll lie and say they're real, etc - but they're interesting to get ideas from, especially when you find one that thinks they're a master at lucid dreaming

Even more advanced - why not talk to your subconscious? I did it , and it wasn't pleasant - I upset him. But I learned something from the experience (my perception of my subconscious was a bit wrong)

Or look through all the 'lucid dream task of the month' challenges that we've had so far.. it's here: http://www.dreamviews.com/community/...splay.php?f=43

EDIT: Or have a look at the link in my signature (http://www.dreamviews.com/community/...ad.php?t=51651)

I'm incredibly curious-- what happened? How did you upset your subconscious? Very, very curious...

I tried to make some sort of deal with them. I can't recall what actually, would have to check my journal (not sure if it's in the one on DV, maybe not)
Anyway, they didn't like my wheeling and dealing, and took offence.
For the week leading up, I had an average of 1 LD per night (avg mind you), and for weeks following that, all my LDs were sabotaged
By sabotaged, I mean.. e.g. I'd become lucid, but as soon as I do, the scene would change, often to a false awakening. It was impossible to keep the dream scene for longer than a few seconds.
