Question Has this happened to you?

this isnt about lucid dreaming per se, but during many of my normal dreams i try to punch or kick, a person or thing, and something seemed to be stopping me, like trying to move my arm through water, and slowing down so much it never even makes contact.one time during a LD i tried so hard to punch a window, my arm accually moved and made me wake up... has this happened to any of you?

i am a bit of a n00b when itcomes to attaining lucidity,i have excellent dream recall, was i trying too hard to control my dream self? so hard that it affected my physical self?

before i even found out about lucid dreaming i would have this same problem in my dreams. I would go to punch someone and as soon as my fist was about to make contact it would slow down and i would barely be able to move it. After time tho this stopped. I'm not really sure how i resolved this problem it kind of just resolved itself. It is very annoying tho.
I lurk. Sometimes I greet people too.

      This is very common.

I don't know what the cause is, but my best guess is that the muscle blocking chemicals used for SP might occasionally decrease a little during REM, which could cause you to feel muscle weakness in the dream, which could manifest as slow/labored movement.

Mine's the same, though with speaking. I'll be talking to someone in my dream, and suddenly, talking becomes hard to do. Eventually, I manage a word, only to realize that I'm lying in by bed, awake.

i think this is the opposite of false awakenings.

probably will go away after you get more LD experiences.

I sometimes have this happen to me. It seems related to a lessening in SP, often if I try hard enough I'll actually move my real body and wake up.

As I've gotten more knowledgeable about lucid dreams I've been able to stop this from happening. When I feel myself struggling to move in a LD I just tell myself to relax and only move my dream body. It seems to work great for me!
