      recording my experiences

ive noticed that alot of descriptions of people's experiences of learning how to lucid dream and have obe's is very impersonal and one often runs into phrases like "feeling your body fall asleep" or "lifting vertically out of your body". I fond that its hard to understand what the author really means and i would often question my experiences in relation to the author's.

i myself am only just beginning to dip my toe into these things, and was thinking that perhaps it would be an idea to record my experiences in a way that someone who hasnt experienced them can relate to. for instance, today was the first time i "felt myself falling asleep". the interesting thing about "feeling yourself fall asleep" is that you dont really, it felt like deep meditation to me until i felt the very distinct transition between consciousness and unconscioussness. other than the feeling of deep meditation i also experienced things like my body feeling the way ones foot does just before it falls asleep after being sat on for too long.

Correct me if im wrong, but i think that my recording my experiences in detail that everyone can understand as i go along, would greatly benefit other people like me who are just beginning to investigate these abilities

Reading about other's experiences can be very useful for people learning to LD. The problem is that this can create expectations that may falsely limit a person's ability in dreams or to LD.

If you want to create a record of your experiences, maybe consider keeping an on-line dream journal. DV has a section dedicated to this.

Sometimes you can feel yourself fall asleep. It's called Sleep Paralysis. There is an extensive tutorial about it in the tutorials section if you'd like more detail. Other times you feel nothing at all.
