      Shaking?

Hi, I'm pretty new to DV and the whole lucid dreaming concept, and as a matter of fact it was about three days ago that I found this site. I just joined today too, and I was wondering if it was odd to shake violently when phasing out of a lucid dream. I would describe this shaking as a shiver from being very cold.

I'm not even sure if this was a true lucid dream or not, because I haven't really kept to the schedule (which some say it would take a couple weeks to even start remember dreams etc.) so it may be odd to even have a lucid dream at this point. The dream was fun, the parts I remember, but just in case it may be relevant I will describe the basics leading up to the lucid part.

I was basically in a place where I became semi-aware I wasn't supposed to be , and then I saw an object that shouldn't have been there. I thought immedietly I was dreaming, and the dream 'tone' went from a golden brown hue to a crisper blue one. Then I started shaking, and last I heard my name being called, looked over and immediatly woke up.

A couple more details which may or may not explain some things. Before visiting this site for the first time, I came across a horror story related to lucid dreaming and other general creepy stuff, and I kind of thought I would never want to lucid dream because of that. I did more research which changed my mind. When I came to the realization I was dreaming, I think I started thinking about those horror stories which made me scared, and therefore, killed the dream, but I'm not to sure.

I tried searching shake and shaking, but I came up nothing. So I thought maybe I should ask. Any help is much appreciated, and sorry for the length and possible grammar mistakes.

Welcome to DV What you had sounded liked Sleep Paralysis. It's when your mind wakes up before your body does, and you become slightly immobile for a few minuets. Its perfectly normal though, in fact it could be beneficial for entering Lucid Dreams. Just don't be scared. You can certainly have Lucid Dreams at any point, just concentrate on remembering your dreams and practicing. Everyone is different, some will have Lucid Dreams sooner then other. Have you checked out the tutorials? http://dreamviews.com/tutorials.php

Keep posting and reading, and you;ll have longer, more indepth LDs soon

Thank you. I'm not to sure of the answer because it doesn't seem like it, but I am very new to the game, so I trust your answer.

I also don't think I should've lucid dreamed. I was napping on and off all day, and although I have read the main part of the site, I wasn't actually planning to try anything yet, like the dream journels or telling myself to remember my dream before sleeping. The LD I may have had was probably a fluke.

Once again, thank you for your answer, and if anyone else has any more input or information, it would be much appreciated.

Sounds like either a dream sensation or a hypnopompic hallucination

Thanks for your responses, but can you point me to a link for dream sensations? I don't think I read anything about it, unless I just missed it.

You don't need to read about it, it's just what you feel (exprience) in dreams.

roland3tr is right, its just what you feel, but here is a link to a tutorial to use those to become Lucid. http://www.dreamviews.com/community/...ad.php?t=13497

EDIT: Okay, I just found a big guide on Sleep Paralysis and hypnogoic imagery. This should answer your questions

The thing about Thors thread is he absolutely doesn't believe anyone can or needs to enter SP before lucid dreaming. So I'd take some of it with a pinch of salt.

      This one is better. http://www.dreamviews.com/community/...ad.php?t=65007

Thank you all for your help. The dream sensation thing makes a bit more sense now, and the links helped explain a few things that were unclear at first.

I've felt this once myself. It was just like the tingly "wave" which people describe as they enter Sleep Paralysis (for me any way).

Which would make sense really. If you can feel SP "switching on" as you WILD, it seems reasonable that you might feel it switching off as you leave a dream.

Especially a Lucid dream, where we are very aware of the transition between dreaming and waking.
